Roush Supercharger on 13 GT. Yay or Nay?

Hey guys looking for a little advice.. i have the chance to purchase a used Roush supercharger kit for my 13 Mustang GT for under $5000 CDN. It's a phase 1 kit that comes with everything except a tune and have under 4000km on it. Yay or Nay? Money is a concern and it looks like this is the way to go for boost now rather then save up the rest and boost later but I'd like advice as it is "used".

Seems like a good deal, if the tune you get is reasonably priced...is warranty a concern for you?

$5000 Canadian Dollars is the equivalent to $4600 US dollars if my currency calculator was correct. You're going to need to spend at least $300, if not more to get a tune. I think it is too expensive. If you look around you can get a complete Roush kit for $5300 brand new that comes with the Roush tune. You can get the tuner kit for even less than that. I would only get the used kit if its around $4000 US.

I'd probably just buy a new kit and save a little longer.

dilemma...

Alright guys, thanks for all the input!
However I still have some concerns. I haven't found anything under $6000 USD for this kit. Not to mention heavy shipping costs to Canada, and to top it off a 13% tax hit as it crosses the border. We're looking at $7500+ CDN now (God bless the Canadian government...)
Also, this used kit i'm looking at is actually $4800 CDN (which equals $4400 USD) to be exact.. And if I'm seeing this correctly, VMPtuning can tune it for $99? as per this link. http://vmptuning.com/ala-carte/review/ (maybe someone can confirm/deny this for me?)
Anyway, after all that now, what do you guys think? Oh and I left out, the used kit also comes with a 79mm pulley (not sure if it comes with the stock pulley as well but i believe it does).. thanks guys.

Hey Jay,
What would your BEST price on a Phase 1 kit be?

Warranty isnt a huge concern to me if its saving me potentially thousands.. The fact that they offer a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty tells me they really stand behind their product and that alone gives me faith... Not that they'll fix it for free (warranty) if it breaks, but still.

Don't buy a used one. Esp at that price. My brand new Maggie kit is less than your used. Never pay asking price on sites. Call and negotiate.

If you buy a used kit hopefully it comes with EVERYTHING that it's supposed to come with.

Very good point. Another reason why I'd never buy used. I'll never part my kit. If I ever sell Marilyn, she will be as is.

Also, you don't know what the history is with that kit... Who used it? Was it abused? Is mileage estimated? For a few more bucks, get a new one... Peace of mind is worth the $.

I know what you're saying. I can only assume it was abused. They had a 79mm pulley on it. I was told it has aprox 2800km on it. But even if this thing was abused does that mean its in any worse shape? I thought these TVS chargers were pretty bullit proof. Also, its not just a "few more bucks". Here in Canada we get screwed because everything comes from the USA. Jay@Hypermotive gave me a price for one of his Roush kits, but after taxes and exchange rate it comes out to $6700 CDN (Not to mention shipping cost!). So that's nearly a $2000 difference... Even after getting remote tuning for $350 USD i'm still saving $1600+ ... This is frustrating..... Can anyone else chime in ?

Wait until you can afford a new kit. I've seen too many bargains end up turning into disasters.
