I noticed the same thing on my 2013 when I was installing my flowmaster outlaws and at that point was wondering if my car had bottomed out when it was pulled off the truck at the dealership. Now that I see the same thing on that BOSS pic, it has me wondering why they are like that? Anyone else notice this on their 2013 and have any insight as to why one of them appears flattened??

It's normal. I was worried too but the other one had it, it's just facing the other way (towards the top).

All the 2011 thru 2013 5.0's have the same flat spot in that resonator.

Anybody know why that resonator is flattened or dented? My 2012 Brembo Gt is the same way.

Both the RH and LH cat-back piping use the same resonators. One side needed some clearance to the floor pan so the outer casing was given a dented formation. This does not affect exhaust flow whatsoever though. Resonators use a straight-thru pipe that is perforated with holes, between the straight thru pipe and the outer casing is some kind of sound absorption material. The dented pipe does not inhibit the exhaust flow. The reason resonator are usually put in line is to attenuate a singe frequency. There must have been something in the exhaust frequency range that needed the resonator. I know there are a lot of people out there that have taken them out and claim they sound "better" but for me, I don't see a need to take them out.

I had the GT500s mufflers on my 2011 6MT 'vert, then removed them and put the 2011 back to stock for selling it when I ordered my 2012 6AT. May have been my imagination, but to me (and my wife) my 2012 6AT sounded "better" than my 2011 6MT did, stock-for-stock. And when I installed the GT500 mufflers on my 2012 6AT it didn't seem to be as much of an "improvement" as when I installed the GT500 axel-backs on my 2011.

Was wondering if the mufflers were improved for sound between 2011 and 2012, and almost started a thread on the subject....

Was the "improvement" for the 2012 AT worth it to you when putting the GT500 A/B on?

The AT cars sound better due to the tune and the shifting torq pattern. The 500's make a hell of a difference.

Early 2011 through end of Job 1 had no resonators on manual equipped cars, later ones did and all 2012-2013 cars do.

And sure you can remove the resonators and replace them with a straight pipe, will increase the burble and pop on deceleration might make it slightly louder.
How about drone?

I am also worried about this.

Even where you see the dented area does not get into where the exhaust flows. because there is a straight pipe that passes thru the center of the resonators.

Now, the mufflers are in fact different between automatic and manual cars. I just got finished swapping my mufflers on my car with GT500 axle-backs. I noticed that the stock ones I removed had stickers that had "MAN" on them. That means they were specific to manual trans to give a little different sound.
Is is interesting to note. I also wondered what those dents were.

amen to that.

Was worth it to me since I had the GT500 mufflers sitting on a shelf after taking them off my '11. So they were basically freebies to me at that point. But I'd have to say they are worth it. I love those 4" tips on the GT500s; that feature alone makes them worth it. They look freakin great! I hate the Japanese car-looking rolled tips of the stock GT mufflers. (this point has been discussed a lot & on general we older guys like regular/non-rolled exhaust tips, probably since that's what the 60's muscle cars had that we grew up with.

I'm 24 and love the slashcut tips over the rolled tips haha. But then again everyone always calls me an old soul...

I can confirm that my 2011 Job 2 Performance Package V6 did NOT have resonators.
