question about upgrading stock driveshaft

I was wondering, if one was to upgrade the stock driveshaft, does it improve acceleration or anything?

I am planning on upgrading to a stage 3 Roush supercharger in the near future, and didn't know if I needed to consider upgrading the driveshaft too...

all comments welcome!

The lighter weight of aluminum or carbon fiber allows the engine to rev quicker. And it is a noticible difference and will improve MPG as well b/c the engine will have atlease 20 lbs less mass to turn. And you dont have to upgrade because of the Roushcharger...but the new one is lighter and stronger. But they are all around $800 for the aluminum

My stock shaft weighed 38 lbs and my shaftmasters 1 piece weighed 19 . Any weight savings is good I really didn't notice a big acceleration difference but it's piece of mind especially with a blower

I went with a 1-pc Shaftmaster driveshaft (about $525 when I bought it on sale). I had it installed at the same time as my stall converter since the driveshaft had to come out anyway, so the labor was free. Also, since I drag race, having the 1-pc d/s meant I only had to buy one d/s loop, which saved me some $'s. The stall converter and 1-pc d/s shaved six tenths of my 1/4 mile ET's, albeit most of that was from the stall converter.

We really like the Driveshaft Shop Aluminum driveshafts. We are also running a 10% off sale on our site right now, just pm us for the discount code. We've ran these on anything from my 450HP boss that I track regularly or our 800hp GT500 that lives at the strip or our 700HP 12 GT that is basically a DD. Great durability, quicker revs and it gets rid of the terrible 2 piece clunk!
