Pypes VS GT500 Exhaust???

So I ve been wanting to hear a little growl from my 5.0 lately. I ve been looking at the Pypes and GT500 exhaust, and wanted to hear you all's opinions on which you think has a better sound quality sound. There both about the same price. I would love the Roush or Pypes Catback System but dont want to drop that much on exhaust right now. I m looking for a nice clean rumble with little to no drone. I m also open to any other suggests so long as they fit the criteria and the budget. Thanks in advanced!

I have the GT500 axleback and can tell you that it is not as loud as the Roush.

GT500 idle is not that much louder than stock, but it is more noticeable. It has a deep, bass rumble to it. The GT500, compared to stock, really wakes up at around 3000 rpm. And is considerably louder than stock once you go higher than 3000rpm.

So if you are ok with a mellow, deep growl and you are not looking for too much attention, I would go with GT500s.

I do like the sound of the gt500 exhaust but wish it had just a little more of a growl. Do you think with a CAI and the resonators deleted, it would give me that extra growl without any drone?

If you want the growl, have a 3" X pipe welded in and 3" tubing from the X to the GT500 axleback. Cheap way to do a catback and it sounds mean and nasty under throttle without being obnoxious and click it to 6th on the highway and you won't even hear it anymore. If you want more sound, then a good CAI will help. Hope this helps!

No comparison, the Pypes is a lot louder than the GT500.s.You,ll get a little droning at around 2k compared with no drone at all with the GT500 axle back.If you want a mean exhaust get the Pypes or you wont be happy.

Here's the thing: You can always make the GT500s louder with an X pipe, reso delete, over-axle pipes or headers but, you can't make Pypes quieter.

I think you'll like the classy rumble of the GT500s. it's enough bark to let you know it's a V8 without the annoying downsides.

When I put mine on I drove around with the mufflers off, simulating the Pypes experience. Sounded good but, really loud and droney, too. It would get old really fast and draw fire from local law enforcement, for sure.

Theres a local guy on craigslist selling some gt500s for 240, which I may be able to get for a little less. I m thinking I going to try them out first, if i want a little more I ll try the resonator deletes. If that still isnt enough then I ll try and them for close to what I paid and go for the pypes.

Thanks everyone

Get the GT500's you won't regret it. If you want to add more growl then just add an Xpipe. It sound really nice once u add the x pipe

let's put it this way!! Pypes is a muffler delete and the gt500's are a muffler!!! Shouldn't be that hard to tell which is louder! If you plan on going with an off road mid pipe in the future or longtubes I would sudgest not going with the pypes

Update: I was able to get the gt500s for $200, and had them installed right then and there (being that I met the guy at my local ford dealership, were I was getting my first oil change). I love the growl and zero drone! I m going to hopefully order myself a tune next week and put back my C&L intake. I hope it ll give it a little more growl, and probably go with a ford racing x pipe later. Thanks for the advice, I think I made a good choice. Any suggestions on who has the best auto tunes (AM, Steeda, C&L, etc..)?Any suggestions on which x-pipe, or should I go with the Ford Racing one?

I can tell you one thing...I regret getting the Flowmaster American thunder cat backs....They drone so bad I have to manipulate the throttle all the time to get rid of the ear splitting sound...Its like a pressure that fills the cabin as well and a vibration....

Yes, I am very happy with my gt500s. I have also decided to pair them with a Pypes x-pipe and resonator deletes.... . Cant wait to order my x pipe and tune, get them installed and done, together with my C&L cai. She s going to be more fun and sound better while doing it.
I know that last sentence may sound so wrong, but I dont want to be right.....lmao.

$60 is all it cost me to get my resonators cut out, it's a cheap mod and will wake up your gt500's a considerable amount and they will continue to not drone.
