Pypes axle back muffler delete <$300 Opinions?

Finally there is a muffler delete kit for less than $300. Has anyone heard these on a 5.0? The delete kits sounded great on the 4.6L but the jury is still out on the 5.0....what do you think? Obnoxious or badass?

They were waaaaaay too loud on my supercharged '07 GT, but with 50% more exhaust being pumped through the pipes I should have figured as much before I bought them! I suspect that on a 5.0L that's naturally aspirated, it might still be a bit loud for most people, yet not loud enough for the hard core faithful out there!

Probably have a local shop do them for a lot less. I had a shop do them on my '07 GT Vert. Used 18" x 4" chrome tips and they mated them to the stock pipe. Sounded great. Cost me $80 in '07.

$290 for two pieces of bent pipe? Am I missing something? Hell, my GT500 mufflers came with mufflers for less than that...

I'm with the above poster, if this is what you want, get a local exhaust shop to do it. Prolly under $100.

Are you sure about that? Some shops might be good for doing a "small" job like this but with the need for nice looking tips, the right kind of socket joint (not just a weld!) and hangars in exactly the right spot, I suspect that a custom job might either come out more expensive or not as nice.

I too bought the GT500 mufflers and on most days, I'm thrilled with them. The tone is just about perfect but they're a few decibels short of ideal (in my opinion). I suppose these represent the other end of the spectrum.

I realize that this thread is half a year old now... but what would you guys reccomend for exhaust tips if you're having this done as a custom install?

Last time I bought exhaust tips, it was for my V8 Dodge Dart some time back in the 1990s.
