It's basically another "hand" to hold up that end of the muffler until you can secure it.
Once you do that, the plastic tether comes off and can be thrown out.
I kept one

I painted the whole can flat black with BBQ paint. Like the tips shiny though so, I left those.
tips for install? Drop the panhard support drivers side and cut 3/4" off the unterminated hanger pass side. Do these and the install is slide-on simple.

Here's my ubiquitous ****ty video of GT500s as the only exhaust mod. No tinycam is going to do this sound justice, I'm afraid. They are perfect, just enough bite to let you know it's a V8 without any annoyances.

Not for me. Glad you're happy! One of the best mods to these cars is exhaust and you're setting yours apart as well. I love my huge chrome borla tips, but black just looks like they're super dirty to me. Jmo!

I think it looks nice Gabe. I'm also going to paint the backside of my mufflers. But I'm going to leave the tips shiny. Only other thing I'd do different - because I'm a member of the OCD club - is I'd mask a straight line around the muffler to get a clean edge.

I just painted my GT 500 mufflers black but I left the tips polished. I guess I am too much old school. I like for the tips to stand out but not the mufflers. Different strokes for different folkes.
