Mustang IRS

I was curious has anyone installed an independent rear suspension. I see a place called Mustang IRS that sells them.

I'm hoping that Ford comes out with a replacement IRS that can be added.

The chasis is gonna be different so i doubt ford will come up with a replacement. Mounting points will be different. And will have to get proper settings for the control arms and etc. Im sure a competent chasis shop would be able to modify one to fit. But a direct bolt on prob wont happen

Put a Watt's Link on the car, it's the closest thing to IRS that this car will ever see.

If anything I thought an IRS causes more wheel hop. What an IRS will do is stop one side of your axle dropping when the other raises, similar to a teeter-totter.

I agree with Brandon302. I think there would be more issues with the IRS than the existing axle.

Every time I got in my 03 Cobra I worried about wheel hop and breaking a half shaft. I replaced several snapped half shafts in 03/04 Cobras and I even had a spare just in case.

Well, my 2012 M3 was much more planted in the rear, and notice even small irregularities, the back end hops sideways.

That is probably due to the dampeners and not the geometry of the axle.

Stright Liners "drag racing" like solid rear axles and Road Racers like IRSs for good reason.

I kinda like the fun of the SRA on a road course, and the new SRA is very good.

That's not exactly the same as a true IRS since it was a bolt up piece.

The SRA in the mustang isn't it's weak link in the handling dept. it's the wheels and tires, shocks and springs. If Ford offered the option from the factory for these, the mustang could walk all over the Camaro
