Moroso Air/Oil Separator...

Much larger than other separators that I've seen out there, but a pretty good piece and smooth install... wish I had a tool to cut the tubing down a little cleaner, though.

You should post the part number and cost.

Interesting placement compared to the JLT piece.

Keep an eye on the hoses. I think the oil will wear them down and they will start to collapse.....or at least the hoses I had on my Bullitt that looked like that did.

I read these keep extra junk out and possibly improve fuel economy. Did you guys install this for performance or peace of mind? Forgive me for sounding clueless, just trying to understand this better.

I'll do that in regards to checking the hose condition. I have a factory PCV tube/connectors as back-up... a Steeda Oil Separator, too. I think most install something like this for peace-of-mind.

Heater hose is not oil rated so that is why they deteriorate.

You can use rubber fuel line, it will hold up to the oil.

I think people do this for both reasons but there is debate on how necessary it is.

Some claim that these are great on dead stock cars, and I agree to an extent. I think their best use comes when any type of forced induction is used, and when people apply NA bolt-ons and tune for them. While they aren't totally necessary, they could save your engine.

I went with this air-oil separator too. I really like the way it looks and the fact that they use all metal fittings. I busted one of the plastic fittings on my JLT so I decided to give this one a shot.

Here is a post I put up on a different forum with pictures and other details.

I also did a side by side comparison with my JLT to give a little perspective on size difference.

I see that you painted the bracket. Very nice job... and a good choice, IMHO. I removed mine for a bit to change the included hoses. I want to paint that bracket, as well.

Thanks. I used rust-oleum high heat paint. A bit of PITA but a definite improvement on how that bracket looks as shipped. If you go this route make sure you let the paint dry really well before you follow the baking instructions on the can. The first time I did it, it bubbled up in a couple of spots and I had to strip it and do it again. The second time I let it sit overnight before baking it.

I liked the look of the OP's Moroso unit so I purchased one and finally got around to installing on my car this weekend. I have hundreds of AN fittings so I put some to use. The hoses and fittings you see are temporary and will be used elsewhere in the future. I plan on replacing most of the hoses with stainless braided or possibly black coated stainless braided lines since the black hoses look pretty good with the anodized aluminum fittings. I need to find out how to replace the fittings on the valve cover and intake. I may replace the intake when we rebuild the engine with an MMR sheet metal intake so we'll see how this goes. I don't like plastic **** regardless of any benefit of plastic parts. I went to great lengths with my 90' vert to clean up the engine bay, doing the same here, but the engine bay looks new for an almost 2 year old car so...it's just my preference to make it unique.

One thing to note. I have Steeda HD Strut Mounts and you have to drill out the Moroso mounting hole since the Steeda HD Strut mounting bolts are about double the size of the OEM bolts.

I purchased over 300 A/N fittings from a swap meet/auction about 12 years ago - down to about 200 now. I used some to connect my dishwasher with braided lines LOL! I may start selling left overs after I figure out how to replace most of the hoses and fittings under the hood of my car. I'm going to see how much oil is in this after I run the car Wednesday night. I'm hoping my DR's get in tomorrow so I can hook up for some consistent 11 second runs.

how come no one makes something to tie in the driver side cylinder bank? i mean i guess taking half of the oil vapor out of the intake is better than nothing, but where's the sense of finishing the task at hand (stopping oil vapors from entering the intake tract).

that moroso piece does look like a piece of art though. very nice.

95% of the oil comes out of the passengers side PCV.
Same as a Gen2 Lightning.
I have a similar set up. Its kind of hard to see because the oil separator is black.
