MMR Cold Air Intake
I'm seriously thinking of getting the Modular Mustang Racing CAI. Anyone have any experience with these? Are they any good? They claim to require no tune and a No CEL guarantee. Opinions?

They promise an 18-20 hp gain without a tune. I mean, I'm getting a tune regardless but after reading some of the threads about people's 'stangs getting stranded, I'm hesitant on which direction to go. So I think I'm gonna start with cold air and see how the tuning situation develops. I'm driving an '11 GT 6mt btw.

That ain't gonna happen. There have been plenty of tests done with multiple CAI's and there has been no gain without a tune. Even with a tune it's only 5 to 10 HP. The stock CAI is just too good. If you're after a better look and cool sound, then you're there.
Companies can promise whatever they want, just like an infomercial when it's "all natural". You can take this pill and it will make your weenie bigger.

Gains from a CAI will be negligible at best on an otherwise stock car or even mild bolt on, until you start getting into some higher power boltons you will see very minimal gains. Stick with stock airbox if power is your sole reason for CAI

Thank you for the kind words. Now that you mention it, I didn't see anything that looked like it was interchangeable. I like the MMR design but I will definitely check out the C&L.

WoW! 18-20hp without a tune!? I wonder why some companies put out ridiculous claims knowing that it will only end up hurting their rep in the long run. Not saying this is not true, but from what I been seeing I think I will stay with my doubts lol.
I wish vararam or OTR would come to the blue side.

The dyno sheet is there in the pics if you dont believe it or just want to see the gains.

LOL, proof doesn't come from the manufacture, proof comes from the customer or other independant tests.

We have proved it time and time again, tunes are worth 10-15 RWHP and adding a Intake (JLT for our testing) always nets another 10-15.
All intake and tune packages will net 25-30 RWHP, if one says 44-54, ask them for a money back gaurantee.
As for no tune intakes, the testing I have seen shows they are a waste of time.
Yes, the stock box is good, but you WILL gain more power adding the intake. (after a tune)
Thanks
Jay

I and probably others would like to see a head to head competition like this you guys did years ago. We can all agree its a bit dated and I'm sure everybody has perfected their products even more. So what do you think, can you make it happen? As for the Steeda #s I believe he meant HP to the crank though he didnt write it, and the graph clearly shows it. http://www.mustang50magazine.com/tec...s/viewall.html

The peak to peak gains aren't usually what they claiming for the power increases. Bc somewhere they showed a 50hp gain between the 2 graphs. Usually a big gain in the midrange...like at 4000 rpm stock it made 250 rwhp. But with their tune and cai they made 305 at 4000 rpm. Big numbers sell, you only pick up 30 peak hp, but had a max gain of 55

Well, while I wanted the MMR CAI, I wound up with a BBK. I'm still getting pretty impressive power gains from the BBK though. It was free and I like it lol.
