Magnaflow Exhaust Installed

I had the Magnaflow Competition cat-back 15590 installed today. Nice deep rumble at idle, wakes up when you get on it. Should be really nice when I add headers. I took some pics but I forgot to take them with the exhaust installed. Here you can see the comparison between OEM and the Magnaflow pieces. The OEM mufflers are showing signs of surface rust.

I have the same setup. Great sound. It gave me trouble when trying to align the tips. That took more time than getting the old pipes out and the new ones on lol

Especially since im kinda OCD

You are right they were a PITA to align, but we managed to get them pretty darn close. After I left the shop I hit a small bump and I heard a bump and felt a bump from under the car. If I'm not working Saurday I'll put it back up and try to figure that out. Looking at the OEM it has a bigger loop over the axle than the MagnaFlow pipes, Thats where I'll start my investigation.

I heard the same thing a couple days after when I went over a bump. Please share if you find something

the only thing you can do is keep fighting it until you can shake the exhaust up and down side to side and it doesn't hit anything. Note that the left pipe has a small offset near the end that connects to the h-pipe and the right one is stright. That causes the right pipe to be a little lower. I don't have a clue why this was made this way, but we were unable to get them even, but we managed to get them pretty even at the tips.

I ran into the same problem. The right pipe is significantly lower than the left even with the Xpipe installed. It didnt even look like it needed to be THAT much different. Curious why they did that

How are you liking the sound?

My 2010 dual kit was a ***** to line up, too. We got it close, but it's not 'right'. I think MF could've done a little better considering the cost.

Looks great!!! I've had Magnaflows on my past few cars. You can tell they are high quality by the way they feel in your hands while installing them.
Not to get off topic but, you should have painted your rear axle while it was on the lift. I painted mine using ramps LOL!!! I used a whole 12 oz. can of paint.

you are right. that thing looks like crap on toast bread. (bing, light just came on) Actually now that you mentioned it. the car is in the body shop now getting my front mask adjusted and the bottom side painted where those DHead's taking it off the boat or a trailer or whatever dragged the mask and got it out of position. It's only about 2 mm or so off but it irks the mess outta me. Everyone said don't worry it's hardly noticeable. Hardly noticeable my rear end. anyways they don't have a lift but the have a pit and I going over there tomorrow and tell him to "paint it black"
Thanks David I owe ya one.

You know the drone on this system is getting a little annoying now lol

Anyone have any strategies to reduce that?

I figured once I get headers that may cure it, then again it could make it worst. If it does make it worst I'll just live with it until it's time to replace them in a few years.

i too have this axle back and mine also hit but only on the drivers side. I feel like except for the sound this kit is garbage. the tips are impossible to align, and the exhaust does not take advantage of the space it has. the stock kit makes a much more pronounced 90 going over the rear where as the magnaflow is like a 45. i have been calling magnaflow for two months and they have told me I'm the only one with this issue. it is actually wearing a hole in the exhaust and making a mark on differential where its hitting. Keep me updated as to what you find out. it is also rear hard to keep tips aligned when the exhaust is constantly getting banged into by the rear end.

I wouldn't say i necessarily have that problem but i will be contacting magnaflow to discuss why the right pipe is so much different

its kinda funny because its the driver side with mine. I have contacted magnaflow 100 times n they tell me I'm the only one having an issue (lol). My prob really lies where the pipe comes from the stock mid pipe back its like its too long. the pipe is hitting the upper front part of my axle. the pipe is slid in all the way at the mid pipe and its still an issue. I had all my work done at Evolution (wheels, tires, cai, tune, exhaust) and I am going back saturday. Evolution assured me they would do whatever they have to to fix it. I have had this prob for 3 months and want to put the arh long tubes and x-pipe on but am scared because I need this fixed first. I will let you know as soon as I find something out.....but dont hold your breath with contacting magnaflow..lol

Well i think in general my right pipe is shorter than my left pipe. The left pipe goes all the way into the new xpipe but the right pipe doesn't make contact inside those clamps (it also doesnt make contact when it goes to the muffler

Is there an advantage using the Magnaflow x-pipe over the stock h-pipe?
