I put in a set of hid bulbs/ballasts in my 2012 years ago and other then color improvement the light they produce really wasn't worth the effort (wire it via relay directly to the battery and on its own switch). The retrofit leds weren't available then, but if I were doing it now, I'd use their led kit, which I suspect would still just improve the cosmetics but easier to install and run cooler than my HIDs.
