Looking to hard wire my V1 and need some help.

I was curious if there was any power source to grab in the roof? Any way to use the lights or is that a constant hot? Any other ideas?

Best thing to do is just run the wire tucked in the headliner and down inside the passenger a pillar to the SJB in the passenger foot well. You can put in an add a fuse into one of the open slots. Some are constant on and some are only on with ignition. I don't even have to turn mine on and off.

Blendmount + invisicord?

That's what I did for my base model GT.
Gentex K5 mirror - about $180
Blendmount - $89
Invisicord - $15
Stereo shop to install the mirror - $75

BTW, these guys make some nice, inexpensive hook-ups for various detectors:

And these guys make the adjustable mount in my pic above:

Nothing beats doing it right. Cool thing is it will last forever this way and look like it was stock from the factory.

I hard wired my V1.

I tapped into the fuse panel in the passenger side kick panel using an add-a-circuit, on a 12v switched fuse. So the radar only turns on when the car is on.

Placing the radar higher up is better for performance as well. I have since added an eyebrow (tint), which shields the top part of the radar (though doesn't come down far enough to block the radar). It also makes it very difficult to see the radar even when standing at the nose of the car.

*edit
posted newer picture.

Mine is on the other side same spot so I can still have my mute function.

Also, tint(ceramic) wont affect the detector what so ever...the metal tint will.

I have the concealed display sitting on my steering column. That way when it goes off I can see the direction, band, as well as my speedometer all in one glance.

I still think the most effective RD install is also the simplest: wire thru passenger kick panel fuse box, run the wire and install behind the driver's visor. You can see the detector easily,, and hide it behind the dropped visor when needed. Other locations are gimmicky.
