Long Tube Headers or Just O/R H pipe?
Long Tube Headers or Just O/R H pipe?
Hey guys I have a decision to make, do I buy LTH's and an o/r shorty h-pipe(would probably have to have an exhaust shop make it for the install), LTH's and a high-flow catted h-pipe or just a standard length o/r h-pipe?
For just an o/r h the gains are apparently 14-16 rwhp w/ tune I assume and with headers I would pick up an extra 10 HP if I am lucky. Also, what would the difference in sound and volume be?
Most importantly, what would YOU do and why?

I would think the gains would be more for the LT than they would be for just an o/r x pipe.
I say do the headers, the gains are more than just power. The sound improvement is awesome too.

An exhaust system is only as good as the most restrictive point which is almost always the cats. I would bet shorties and no cats would be as much if not more hp increase then LT"s and cats.
I think its pointless to do LT headers and have a catted mid pipe, IMO the purpose of adding headers and taking cats off is gaining maximum power from the mods with a good tune. You should see about a 30whp increase with headers and O/R Mid pipe. Most LT's advertise at least a 20whp gain alone couple that with 10 for eliminating the cats and you get your increase. A good tune will probably get you more
