I think you were just lucky! I did this a couple weekends ago. I went with the black bushing and slipped it on first, but I couldn't get the the bracket on over it without slightly lowering the center mount of the driveshaft to get more room. On the center mount, I removed the passenger's side bolt entirely, then just loosened the driver's side so that the driveshaft dropped just enough. I did all this on my back and squished under the car on jack stands.

 

I'm having the same problem. Just not enough room between then shifter assembly and the driveshaft to get the bracket in. I get the bushing on but then the issue becomes trying to get enough room to get the bracket underneath the new bushing so that it slides in. Does anyone have any tips or advise other than loosening the driveshaft. I keep hearing this a 5 minute install. ****, I gotta be stupid or something!!!

 

Can this be installed with the car up on ramps or does it need to be on jack stands.

I used stands just on the rear. Ramps may work too, if they give enough clearance so that you can squeeze in there under the middle of the car.
