HID headlight upgrade *
to me the stock HID's are just hideous. Really makes the car look cross-eyed and silly. I will wait for a good conversion kit that keeps the main projectors and turn signals in the same locations as the halogens as well as a kit that doesn't have the overplayed "halo" around the projector.

I've heard it's pretty difficult and also I believe the bumper needs to come off.
Wow, you guys are so smart, you must be absolutely right. The $900 factory option must be better than my $175 aftermarket. Better by at least $725, I'm sure. 'Laughable', actually (JP). I'll do a side-by-side any time, day or night, and all you really smart guys should be able to tell the difference, right? Oh, wait, I've done that many times at car shows, both day and night, oh, and yeah, they're just as good. But I'm not as smart as you guys, and I 'don't do things right' (Lewis). That must be why my car is ogled over at every show I go to.

The point is HID lamps are not designed to be used in a halogen fixture, period. I ran both HID's in my regular halogen headlights, then retrofitted Morimoto DS2 projectors into new headlights. The difference was night and day. Yes the HID's were "bright" in the original headlights, but the retrofits with the proper focus and light spread couldn't be beat. The kicker was I went from a 6k to a 4300 lamp in the DS2 and it was brighter and clearer. This was all done on a 2001 GT. I plan on retro-fitting those DS2's into my 2012 soon. The fact your car is "ogled" at shows is irrelevant to doing it wrong...
Um, yes, everyone will agree that stock OEM is better 99% of the time, in all applications, including HIDs. But to save $700+, um, no-brainer. Sure, I'm 'doing it wrong'. Yeah, right.

If I understand the situation, since the car wasn't built with this option, the smart junction box isn't properly 'dealing with' the HID's. The evidence is that they cannot get the high beams to work. The smart junction box is getting the signal from the high beam switch, but is not sending the signal to the lights themselves. Anyone have any thoughts or advice?
