help free up HP.
help free up HP.
Hello fellow Mustangers.
I have a 2012 GT 5.0 6 sp manual trans Mustang and want to free up some more HP. I'm getting s aluminum DRIVE shaft and I was thinking about getting a lighter flywheel and was wondering what brand flywheel would be the the best as for strength and light weight. Any help or any other suggestions would greatly be appreciative. Thanks

Have you done any mods to the car? i would suggest a tune and an air intake or a better air filter. while replacing the flywheel would be beneficial to better transfer the power to the ground, the stock pieces are pretty good. the tune would be the best way to free up some hp without replacing parts with lighter ones. While it does void the warranty you can easily revert the car back to stock if you have to take it in to be serviced

OP it's up to you but I would go with lightening the drive train first before adding more power.
Yes I have a SCT 93 race tune and CAI, LT Headers, with magnsflow cutbacks Street Comp series, and a 1" Drop. That's all right now.. a twin Turbo is in the near future.

If you still have high flow cats you could remove those. A lightweight flywheel will just alter driveability, a billet steel has better driving characteristics. What driveshaft are you looking at, we're doing a 10% off sale which includes the DSS driveshafts.
which flywheel were you looking at??

I'm planning on the DSS Drive shaft. I did alot of research on them and find the DSS TO BE THE BRDT BUILD, and sounds like the have the vibration problem THST Forf had and that's why the went with the 3 piece DRIVE shaft. I haven really decided on a flywheel, haven't found one That would do what I'm looking for. And for the 5.0. And it is a Dr. But don't drive it When there's snow on the road.
it was originally more of a question hence the two question marks after the question. They seemed to make a bit of a difference on my 06 gt and they are lighter than the factory pieces. So they do free up some of the rotating mass.
This isn't a 2006 though now is it? Do you realize they don't make them for these cars? Plus in my opinion they've always been a waste of money post Fox bodies.
chill out not all of us can afford the new ones so we don't look at parts for them so how would we know if they have them or not it was just a suggestion
