What a hassle. Totally worth it but I will never. Ever. Do this again to one of my vehicles. It sounds like I could enter it at the NASCAR race in Watkins Glen this weekend and I love it. But what a complete hassle. BBK Longtubes, O/R X-pipe and roush axle backs with Bama Performance tunes. Car definitely has more power. Sounds really good above 3-4k rpms, below that at WOT it gets raspy with a rough tone.

Question for anyone else who has done these. How did you go about Getting the top starter bolt fully tightened down 100%? with the wrench is impossible. Anyone who has done it has to have had a special wrench for this because its tightened down as best I could and its flush to the engine and functioning as it should but I'm not confident that top nut is fully cinched down as tight as I could if it was out in te open. Make no mistake, the other two are torqued perfectly and the top one is definitely solidly on there but I know I don't have that top one torqued as I would like. It's not going anywhere (I hope). There's just no way from top or bottom to fully get to that bolt with a wrench. No way. Not possible.

That sounds like a loud and raspy exhaust, just judging by your equipment. I went catless with the stock manifolds on my 03 GT for all of a week, and had to put the high flow cats back on. It's still very loud, but it doesn't rattle the interior apart anymore. Now only the suspension does that haha!

If you want to get rid of the rasp, go with a catted xpipe.

That just quiets it down. X-pipe is typically more raspy either way. Depends on your mufflers too.

Yeah I'll leave it this way for a while and see how i like it. I could always take a BBK shorty cat-less H-pipe and bolt it in there to change the sound down the road if I wanted to anyway right? I guess that would get rid of the rasp.

X's are always raspy compared to an H-pipe. LT headers make it even worse.

I think your problem is mostly the roush axle backs. People generally don't run them with off road exhaust because its terribly loud and raspy

What axle back system would compliment the long tubes better?

I was hoping no one would suggest borla. I refuse to spend that much on just a pair of mufflers lol

If I were to get the kooks mufflers, would I be able to use my Roush square tips on them you think? I changed the rear valence specifically for the square tip look and I want to keep it that way.

Also here's another suggestion/idea/question. What would happen if I had some pypes m80 mid mufflers put in place of the stock resonantors after the BBK OR-x pipe that I have (i assume that's where you put them and that they'll fit in that area) and then keep the roush axle backs on there. Would that sound strange? I'm trying to think of how I can keep my roush's and tune the sound of it all.

I went with the stock mufflers after doing my long tubes and catted x pipe. It actually sounded pretty good. Now that it is just me in the car most of the time I went with the pypes violators its louder but not annoyingly loud.

Does that starter bolt screw in from the back of the car or the front?

The Kooks mufflers and tips are all one piece so no you cannot use the Roush tips.

Anything metal can be cut and rewelded, but can't promise it would look good...

Yea no **** sherlock but I highly doubt that's what he was getting at. The Kooks catback runs $1000 or so so I don't recommend hacking it up.
