GT500 Strut Mount Availability

I have everything I need to lower my car the way I want but not the gt500 strut mounts. I can't find a place that has them in stock. Anyone know where I can pick up a set asap?

I'm interested in lowering my 2012 gt with frpp 1.5" springs. Are the gt500 strut mounts required in order to do that? The springs themselves are backordered on cjpony parts.

There is a guy advertising them on e-bay for about $100 / pair IIRC . . . have you already checked with them, are you saying they are our of stock?

(I am looking to get some soon also)

The way I understand it from reading this forum and others, you can add springs alone to your stock strut/shock set up and maybe be ok. You also may compromise the integrity of your stock struts and damage or reduced strut life could occur. It's a matter of opinion and experience and I decided to play it safe. I chose to go with a set of aftermarket struts and shocks (Koni Str.t) designed to handle the reduced spring height. However, the Koni's won't work with the stock 2011+ strut mounts, hence my need for GT500 mounts. Every online store I've contacted has them backordered with Ford until May and no local shops in my area have them in stock. Guess I may have to wait until May.

IIRC, you can also use a 2010 GT strut mount instead. PM Stinger1982 and see what he might have, or what he can suggest.

You can also Space the old style shock shafts and use your current strut top in a pinch. My local Tractor supply has a variety of spacers in various lengths and ID's that would work.

I plan to just pull the isolator from the svt mounts for the steeda HD mounts. Wonder if the stock GT mount is an option for that.

Why would 2010 gt strut mounts be okay but 2011's aren't? What did they change and why?

Ford changed the mount with the 2011, and no one has made an aftermarket strut that fits it yet without changing out the mounts or going to the HD steeda mounts

I'm looking for part number M-18183-C or M-18183-A. I believe it's standard on 2005 to 2011 GT500s.

Those are FRPP Parts. Let me see what I can Find.

KC

m18183c
  • Fits 2005-2010 Mustang GT and V6
  • Fits 2011 Mustang GT and V6 when used with Ford Racing lowering springs and dampers.
  • Fits 2007-2011 Shelby GT500
  • Original equipment on the 2011 Shelby GT500 with SVT Track Pack Option
  • Increased durometer
  • Eliminate the popping/clunking noise often associated with lowered Mustang's with these upgraded strut mounts from Ford Racing.
These are the ONLY Dealers That have the Latest m-18183-c in Stock. These are per Pair and quite a bit Cheaper than the OEM Parts!

Good Luck!

You may have to Google a Phone Number on Some!

Quantity in Stock:(Out of Stock)
Availability: DISCONTINUED. NO LONGER AVAILABLE. USE NEW PART NUMBER M-18183-C.
Part Number: M-18183-A

Here is the Old Number as well. I would assume the New number maybe a better part or wider application. But maybe not. Sometimes it's just a way to raise the price.

Good Luck!

I appreciate your assistance, Kevin. $150+ is just not worth it to me. I think I'll wait until mid-May when I can get them for $80 a pair. It's really odd to me that the Boss package mounts are so much cheaper. Thanks again.

The 2 Posts above you is the Ford Racing Items. If you call one of the Dealers Listed they can sell you the FRPP Parts now. They should be in your expected price Point.

It always irritated me that FRPP Sells REPACKAGED OEM Parts cheaper to the General Public than the OE Parts cost the Dealers. Real Morale Builder for the Dealer there. Also makes The Dealer look like a crook unless they are aware of the FRPP counterpart and advise the customer. Most are not.

I have done numerous posts on these types of things in the past. I also complained to FORD on Pricing issues such as these when I worked at the Dealership to no avail.

Whenever I was aware of these PRICING issues I always advised my customers where to get the best deal. It's just the right thing to do.

Interested in those Boss mounts vs. a stock GT mount, if they'll work for upgraded suspension systems. If not, I'll just go with 2010 GT mounts.
