FRPP ProCal tune...denied installation by local dealer...

I ordered the FRPP ProCal tune a couple of weeks ago, after deciding that I wasn't ready to go all out and bust my warranty completely just yet. I just stopped by the dealership I bought the car from in Ft Walton Beach and they told me the closest place that is authorized to install it is in Jacksonville,FL...about 5 hours away.
So, Mustang friends and enthusiasts... what should I do? A 10 hour round trip to have someone read a sheet of paper and flash my car's memory is not on the table BTW. Just curious to hear your responses...

I would install it yourself. The tune is safe. Ive had it on my car since it had 5 miles on it and its over 7k now. If something major goes put it back to stock.

Honestly I think Ford should have made this the stock tune for our cars, its not "bleeding edge" power
but it makes it drive better, bottom end feels stronger.

Wow. What a poor dealership that is. Find someone new to do business with.
Do not install it yourself if you want the warranty.
Every Ford Dealer is qualified to install. They just did not want to. And whats with telling you the nearest qualified dealer is five hours away. Jerks.

Did you call any other local dealers to see if they would do the install? Talked to mine and they want to charge 1 hour of labor to do it.

Go to another Ford dealer. By the sound of it they did you a favor.

Or Install it your self.

Isn't dealer installation required to keep the warranty?...which is his main concern.

Show me ONE post where the Procal tune caused someone to lose engine and have any warranty denied.

Install it yourself.

None of the other tuners are causing major problems either. But if the dealership finds a tune and decides they don't want to fix it, then you don't have a warranty anymore.

The whole point of going with the Procal vs a SCT type tuner is to keep the factory warranty. FRPP and Ford both stated that the factory warranty can be made void if the Procal is not installed at a authorized Ford Dealership. You can read it for yourself in the other active thread. Ray from FRPP posted the info himself. Like it or not, that is what Ford requires.

Can you install yourself, sure. Will it void the warranty? According to them it will. If I am going to void my warranty over a tune then it is going to be tuned by someone like AED or Mike Rousch using a SCT X4 tuner.

Ok then drive 5 hours and have a dealer do the 25 minute job so you can have the warranty.

I would install it myself and not worry about it.

Do the install instructions not say that a Lincoln dealer can also do the work? They are often more accommodating

Well...I got a little...err...impulsive and went ahead and installed it myself. It is a fairly tame tune, honestly this is the way the car should have run from day 1. The most noticeable changes are throttle response and 1-2 extra mpg. I do plan on getting a "real" tune in the future, but that's after I've built the car up a bit more.
