Wonder if it is even feasible?

Thanks,

Im looking at buying a takeoff s/c from someone and have been doing some research. He told me that brenspeed says it will fit, just need new intake and bigger injectors. Obviously I will do more research myself just to be sure but as of this morning that is what I have been told

Probably the same guy I talked to over on AFM who is selling a takeoff

You would think with the GT500 using the same heads it "could" bolt up snug?

I don't think it would fit either, but why not buy the entire motor if the price is reasonable.

Ha, probably. They sell just the s/c takeoffs on Shelbytakeoff.com for $400 anyways

I think you could make the blower fit, it's the specific manifolding you'll have to buy and the drive to get it to work on the 5.0. The blower isn't much different itself than the off-the-shelf 5.0 kits.

In the end, if you can round up the 5.0 manifolding, you *could* make it happen but, I wouldn't bet on that being very easy.

Even if you could get a manifold to fit, the blower pulley probably wont line up with the crank pulley.

If it was that easy to retro fit that blower everyone would be snatching them up as cheap as they are.

Short answer .... Yes

Technically it would a lot easier and probably cheaper to just buy a kit. In order for it to fit you are going to have to fabricate a completely new lower and I am sure you would want an inter cooler tied into the lower to help keep temperatures down. Than you have to fab up new lines, a cooling system, new fuel injectors, new Fuel pump, misc. fuel system components, Intake, and a whole bunch of other misc. items I am forgetting off the top of my head.

Go buy a whipple, install it yourself, pop your hood have a beer and marvel at the beauty of a whipple on the 5.0

Not even the same, the 5.0 and 5.4 4v heads are respective to thier engines (the coyote/road-runner heads actually outflow the GT500 heads), that some people have managed to use a Boss intake on some 5.4 4v engines is just dumb luck (and there is still a good degree of mis-match when doing so).

The OP would be money ahead just getting a kit, it seems to me that alot of them with a positive displacement blower are using the much better TVS unit anyways (not that the M122 is bad, but the TVS is all-around a better blower).

All it takes is money. How fast do you want to go?

its really not all that hard.... you will need an intake manifold from a gt500 and yes i know the bolt pattern is different..... and some adapter plates to make the manifold bolt to you 5.0....... i have seen this done a few times with 4.6/5.4 swaps its basically the same thing.....

4.6 and 5.4 use the same block. not going to be so easy to make a 5.4 intake fit a 5.0

The 5.4l is a wider block than the 5.0. So the awnser is basically no.

The reason the 5.4l block is wider at the top is becasue they are both a 90 degree V motor. But the 5.4l has a longer stroke and there for a taller deckheight. Even if the heads where 100% identical. The 5.4l block would be slightly more outward on each side making the distance between the two mounting surfaces farther apart.

So basically the 5.4l intake manifold will have to be slightly wider than the 5.0 manifold.

This is common in the 4.6l to 5.4l swap sections. When guys what to swap motors, they have to be sure to have the entire intake setup off of a 5.4l when they do the swap. The 4.6l manifold is ust to narrow to be used.

Actually the manifold mounting surfaces are closer together on the GT500 not farther apart than the 4.6l. The GT500 is a four valve motor the heads are much wider than the three valve. I have had both manifolds in my hands and measured them personally so this isn't a guess. I don't have a picture of the two manifolds together so I can't show you. I have not measured the 2011 5.0 so I don't know where that falls.

Nope. Who told you the heads where the same?

To the OP
A kit will cheaper than having a custom manifold and heat exchanger built.
