Exhaust Sound

Hi all,

I am looking into changing out the exhaust system from the stock. Is there some infograph that can help me guide my decision? I am looking to get a more quieter and deeper tone. The quieter and deeper the better. The two I am keeping in mind is the Magnaflow Street axelback and the Borla Touring exhaust. Any other recommendations?

Thanks

Most are gonna say GT500 or Borla. I went with Maganflow street cat-back from A.M. and couldn't be happier. Nice deep sound. A little louder than stock but more of a deep runble. Gets lud when you get on it tho. The cat-back is not much more than the axle back and sounds just as good as borla touring for less money. I've been meaning to post up a sound clip. I will in a few.

If you're changing the entire exhaust then stainless works or dynatech long tubes with bassani catback. Checkout late model restorations RTR 2011 mustang on YouTube.

ETA for delivery Tuesday huh? Good luck taking delivery...

GT500 is what I put on recently and love them. Minimal noise driving around normally, but enough V8 noises to keep me happy. I've only heard my car from the drivers seat, not from outside, but from inside it sounds awesome. Tunnels are my friend now

Suggest looking for a used set - I picked up a pair of lightly used GT500 mufflers for $180 plus $20 shipping... best deal I found!

Quieter than stock?

My GT500 ABs are deeper, but definitely not quieter.

Not sure you're going to find a system that does both.

Here's a video of GT500 and Ford Racing Sport that I made with a friend. Maybe this will help?

Yep can't really have both. I vote GT 500 - resonators.

Excellent video comparison. Best I have seen to compare those two axlebacks.

Heres my exhaust but now that I'm on my computer and not my phone I see you have a GT. So this is pretty much irrelevant but here goes nothing! This is Maganflow street cat-back. it will be louder on your 5.0. A friend of mines has the street axle-backs on his '12 5.0 and its slightly louder than mines.

I would definitely stay away from Roush or Pypes if you're looking for quiet. Even some Borlas are really loud.

I have Pype Bombs on my 5.0 they're a bit loud. But not completely obnoxious... good deep rumble but first 1000 miles with them on the drone was HORRIBLE shake the whole car kind of horrible. If I remember correctly when I was researching exhaust Hushpower from Flowmaster was probably one of the best low rumble deep tones I found but just wasn't right for me...
a link to one... best of luck picking right set took me about two months to decide.

Not sure why you would want -quieter- than stock when the stock exhaust is almost inaudible. Pretty much any axleback other than the stock set is going to increase depth and volume of sound. GT500 is the most tame and pure and when paired with cut off resonators is nuts.

I would recommend the Magnaflow Street Series Axleback that you are considering. I have it paired up with the Boss 302 h-pipe and open sidepipes, which sounds amazing, but probably louder than you want. Just the axlebacks should do you nicely.

I have the GT500's and I love them. I wasn't looking for volume though, just nice sound. I love leaving the parking garage at work and letting off the gas as I come around the corner at the bottom of each ramp. The burble noises are fantastic.
