I paid $320 for my 3.73 gear/trutrac diff install. I don't think anything over $500 is fair.

I paid $430

300-500 is the norm.
A ford dealership will rape you though $700 easy.

Make sure you do some research first as to who will do the best job for the price. Don't use a shop solely based on price. There is a lot that can be screwed up with a bad install. I agree with everyone else here install can range from as little as $300 to as much as $500. It should not take more than 3 hours labor.

I got an estimate from Ford racing at a Lincoln/Ford dealership for 800.00. They said this work would not void my 2012 warranty. Obviously I would get that in writing, but my warranty being covered and the work being done by Ford racing might be worth the extra money. Changing my 3.31 to3.73.

I went to my salesman and got the info for the dealers best tech that specializes in gears. He did it outside of work at his shop for $350. And theyre perfect.

$350 labor. I supplied all parts, gasket material, oil, and friction modifier.

It took the guy about 4 hours on a lift.

Sweet deal I'm gonna check at a couple shops around here. Im gonna buy the install kit from LMR and get it installed. Hopefully they won't try to rape me around here.

The key is to get someone with experience installing gears in a Ford 8.8" rear end. The more they've done the better. Subarus and Nissans are not Fords. Be specific. Best place to look is the dealer or a shop that specializes in Mustangs even Fox bodies as they are 8.8" rears (the V8s are) or Ford F150s.

Yeah I would rather pay more for it to be done right then save some money and have it done wrong. I may even wait till I go to stang hi for my tune and have them Do the install and tune all at once.
