Cool Darkside Countdown Begins

I ordered my Procharger i-1 on Friday, June 19 and it should arrive in roughly 3 weeks. I'll have to get with my friend to see when I can bring it to his shop and do the install.

My new one-piece driveshaft should be here Thursday. And I sent my Valentine 1 off to have it brought up to date.

David...

1) Congrats! Welcome to the dark side.
2) You'll need a new pair of shades to compliment your "darker" side.
3) Get rid of that Valentine V1. If the repeated "beeps" and other false alarms don't drive you nuts, having to send a unit in for updates is just pure insanity. Get an Escort 9500ix or Max2. GPS based for zero falses plus camera info, and updating firmware/software is done online via updates. Or get a Redline for the farthest range (but no GPS). Bottomline, you'll need a REALLY GOOD detector for your new dark side setup.
4) Do the Procharger install yourself for more "flavor" and experience.

I will be assisting my friend in doing the install. I have the installation manual and everything looks fairly straightforward. I've even figured out how to install the catch can. It looks like both valve covers have their PCV ports routed to a 't' fitting that runs to the intake tube. I'll simply install the catch can between the 't' and the intake tube.

Awesome, and congrats. Did some reading on this kit and I really like it. The more I read about all these different setups, the more centrifugal seems the way to go. Only drawback seems to be the price, 8-9k is quite steep. Can't wait to hear some feedback though

And did you get rid of that V1 detector yet for an Escort?

Correct...that's the one I got.

The V1 is already one its way back to me after the upgrade. It served me well for years until new cars got equipped with sensors that set it off. Hopefully that is cured, or I will be in the market for something new.

Yes, that's the biggest fallacy of the V1. Incessant BEEEEEEEEEEEPING. No way to lock out signals. The firmware upgrade you sent it in just makes it (tries to) more resistant to low strength signals. It tries to improve it, but continues to fail.

Reason why I know this? I have a couple buddies here with the V1, and they too sent it in for "upgrades". Having to send it in, and being without a detector for 1-2 weeks, is painful, especially when you're out of "protection" for those 2 weeks. On top of that, upon receipt of the said "upgraded" unit, they found no difference whatsoever in functionality. It still BEEEEEEEEEEEEEPED like toddler asking "Are we there yet?" repeatedly in your family car.

The Escort? you plug it in your laptop, and download and upgrade within 5 minutes or less, and voila. Plus you get zero false alarms.

They have both since SOLD the V1, and gotten an Escort Max2 and 9500ix.

V1 just swapped my 10 year old one out with a new one apparently. I shipped it Tuesday and they already shipped a new one. It will be here Monday. I'll see how it goes. It was great before all these sensors were installed on cars.

I talked to MVPerformance today and plan to take my car to them for dyno tuning after i get the procharger installed. My friend/mechanic has used them before and says they do great work. I know the canned tune is supposed to be safe, but a custom time would be even better. I also assume I'll know my actual RWHP after its all done.

As I sit here and wait on the supercharger, I've been giving some thought to how I'll install my Moroso oil catch can. Here are a couple of pics from Procharger's install manual and where I intend to install the can. Does this seem like a good place to put it? Since they route both valve cover PCV hoses to a tee, it seems like a logical place to insert it.
