Could the TCI shifter work on the 2011?
Since the 2011 has the same or a similar shift pattern as the previous auto would it be possible to mount a TCI shifter on a 2011 A6???

I was just wondering cause aside from the trim and the shifter handle it looks to be the same setup as the previous models. I guess it would take someone looking at all the connections underneath the console and under the car. If no one has done it by the time my car gets here I will take one for the team and do it . That may be a month or two though.

Right the connectors can be swapped but I agree the mounting holes need to be the same and the length of the fulcrum under neath needs to be the same. It can be changed with some enginuity but it can't be to far off or it will screw up the trans. Otherwise it's not worth it. I figure if I get the shifter and it doesn't work oh well Ill just have to wait on the aftermarket to come through.

I did call them this morning about the shifter and converters. They said they will eventually develop them. I asked if they would use a customer's car for testing and they said they only purchase their own for testing. So from this I'm betting it will be quite a while before anything hits the market from them. Unless ofcourse they are doing testing and just dont want word leaking out.

Let me ask this, why do you want a new shifter for the automatic?
It will still only control the shifting from first to second and second to third. Forth, fifth and OD will still be computer controlled, no way around that with the current valve body in the tranny.
The computer is way more accurate at shifting than a human hand will be anyway, just need to tune the computer to shift it when you want it to.

Very true, but I plan on running a blower and dont want to throw a rod from downshifting under full throttle. At least not until I could afford a new shortblock. I want to be able to downshift while not under load, then floor it. I know that has a slim chance in happening, but Im just overly caustious I guess about it from my Lightning days. (Used to happen to a lot of L owners under those same circumstances.) Plus even though it is faster to let the computer do the work it is more fun to shift manually from time to time. And it's not that I can't drive a stick car, I've had way more manual cars than autos. I have driven a new 5.0 manual and did like it but this time around I just want to let technology do the work. (MOST of the time)
And actually 5th and 6th are both OD on this tranny.
