BOSS 302 side exhaust for GT 5.0

Anyone heard or recommend the BOSS 302 side exhaust for the GT 5.0? Getting a 2013 GT in a few days and asking if it’s worth this modification.

Will a GT give you the same sweat note with this mod as a Boss? Are the axle back mufflers the same on a GT vs. a Boss?

Worth every **** penny.
I love mine with the GT500 axle back but I bet they would sound just as good with the stockers.

BOS 302 side exhaust on a GT 5.0, does it require a tune?

Hey, anyone hear about the need for a tune if you go from a stock 2013/12/11, etc GT 5.0 exhaust to a modified BOSS 302 side exhaust that a tune is needed?

I spoke to a ford dealer service dept just to get pricing and quote for the work and they said a tune it required to adjust the exhaust backflow changes the quad offers, especially if the baffles are removed...

I never heard that this required a tune...I have been running mine with the stock tune for 2,000 miles with no problems but if someone knows different, I'm all ears.

No tune needed for the Boss exhaust.

Are you certain? How do you know? I didnt think it did....but I can imagine that the change in backpressure might be accommodated...or optimized somewhere in the tune

Just because some *** hole at a dealership say it requires a tune (AKA $$$ for the stealership) doesn't necessarily make it fact. Any changes made to the exhaust behind the stock cats has very little over all effect.

Yes I am certain.

Yes I know more about these cars than most service guys. Been building Mustangs for many years. Go on the Mach1 Registry and do a search for me. I was the first one to put a Whipple for an 03-04 Cobra on a Mach 1. Not an easy task at the time.

Enough said here.

Dealer employees aren't ford. They may know they may not. In this case not.

Then there is logic. Exhaust pressure is not measured. There are no sensors beyond the aft O2 sensors. It simply does not matter to the PCM what happens behind those O2 sensors.

Lastly Ford Racing Parts would say so if it did, and they don't.

There are people running muffler deletes (open pipes) that did not need a tune. There is not a big enough drop in back pressure to cause a lean-out.

On top of that the Boss302 exhaust only routes a portion of the exhaust to the side exits, not the entire flow. I agree, no tune needed.

Got mine installed this morning. Perfect addition to my already loud FRPP Sport mufflers. No restrictor plates of course

Short quick vids:

5.0 Magazine put a set with GT500 Mufflers on a stock 2012. The dyno runs afterward picked up about 3-5 HP. Could have been within the accuracy of the dyno or just cause things cooled down. Bottom line is it is a cosmetic (sound) mod that will add a little bit of weight. All things considered, they are pretty cool and one of the mods at the top of my list for the new car. After owning a Bullitt for 4 years, I think the standard GT exhaust is going to be too quiet.

The responses to your query are indeed correct. Post converter changes that are designed to address sound/tone are far too minor to affect the PCM's ability to stay within factory parameters.

I have Boss and I highly recommend the boss side exhaust or and aftermarket one! As far as tuning these new cars 11+ do not need a tune for exhaust due to the wideband and regular 02 sensors that come on the cars. The wideband will compensate for a different exhaust and even different octane! Wicked cool stuff! haha

I installed cat deletes so now I basically have straight pipes out the side its insanely loud!

Does anyone know of a video of the Boss quad exhaust on a 5.0 GT with the stock exhaust? I thought I located one but cannot find it now.
