boss 302 intake question
boss 302 intake question
I know there have been allot of heated debates about voiding the factory warranty, but I was wondering, if I add the BOSS 302 intake, will that void the factory warranty?
also will it really give me a HP boost?

I believe you need a revised tune to use the boss intake, which would void warrantee. As for power, it seems that there are typically gains in the high rpm range. If you rev to 7500+ rpm for road racing for instance, it should be beneficial. There is a thread on this forum comparing cobra jet intake to boss... Search around for that one
"Boss 203"??? Great title!
Why do you want a BOSS intake?
It loses torque and only gains HP at high rpm, higher than you cars stock rev limiter is set at so you have to have a tune to take advantage of it.

You need a tune for it yes. Anything you add to the car will void that aspect of the cars warranty. That being said, many of the tuners around here offer safe, more than reliable tunes for the boss manifold.
While I'm at it,
The only way the manifold is worth it, in my opinion, is if you have the 3.73 gears. They put you in higher rpms anyways, which is where the manifold excels.
If you want more info. Pm me. I can tell you the ups and downs. And I can sell you mine cheap if you want it. I went to a supercharger.

Take a gander at this and see if you really want the intake, http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...-find-out.html
OP - what are your goals with the car? Street driving, drag strip, auto-x, road course, show? I'd argue the only place the Boss intake belongs is on a car doing road courses where the engine is >4500 rpm for extended periods of time
I'm still amazed at how many people want more power out of these cars. I wouldn't mind a bit more but 420 is really pretty hard to use on the public roads. This is the first car I've had that i don't feel any desire for more power. Just want more places to use the power!!
