Best Auto Tune?

Best Auto Tune?

I know this question has been asked many times since the return of the 5.0, but since its been a while since this debate has reoccured and there are new players in the game; what is the best auto tune out there currently? I have a 2012 mustang gt A6. I have a C&L cai which I have removed because it requires a tune and gt500 axlebacks. This vehicle is my DD so I would like a tune which helps make my 20 min commute to work, as well as my sundays, a little more fun. I would also like a race tune because I would eventually want to take it out to the track, and maybe a little more power on the under 3K rpm.

Let the debate begin....

BTW....sct or diablosport?

Sct is much more supported.. Best tune is honestly a matter of opinion. I like the vmp I'm running better then the steeda tune I ran on my 2012.

You've already got the C&L intake, go with Doug at C&L...just purchased from them two weeks ago and am loving it. The performance tunes are good, the race tune is outstanding, and their new torque tune is great for the street and does a good job of maximizing the torque and keeping it in the power band. I have one of each.

I also had VMP before, Justin does a great job tuning the newer 'Stangs as well. Both in my opinion do a better job than other tuners in getting the most power from their tunes, and have less issues with their tunes popping up problems - and when they do, both have got back to me asap and resolved it quickly. No matter who you go with, I'm sure that you'll enjoy the tunes BUT ensure that it's with someone who provides great customer for those times that you may need it.

I have tried several auto tunes and I love my Brooks speed tune the best.

I've tried Bama and Steeda and I prefer my Steeda tune.

Edit: I am no looking into a new tune. My Steeda was better than Bama, but still not perfect.

After giving it some thought, I think your right NTXRockr, I have a C&L cai already and Doug makes some of the best auto tunes. So why not just go with C&L performance...plus I ve heard his torque tune is alot of fun for daily driving, which is one of the tunes I wanted. So I think next week I will be placing my order. A week ago I wanted to get some exterior mods first to be able to give my car individuality, but after just getting my gt500s and hearing my engine purr a little louder, now I want performance, performance, and more performance lol. Although its only a cai and a tune, with some mufflers and possibly an x pipe, I m still pretty excited .

I have the C&L torque tune on the Diablosport inTune. It really woke the car up. I got on it after work one day last week and finally remembered to turn the traction control off, it was trying to break loose in 1st, when it hit 2nd it spun 15-20' and got sideways pretty bad.

I'd read where a lot of guys were having issues with the SCT, none with the Diablosport, and the Diablosport doesn't leave a footprint in the pcm like the SCT.

There's a lot of great Tuners out there and all of the companies you listed definitely offer a great tune, I'm confident you'll be extremely happy with whomever you decide to go with! ^^^This is pretty accurate with the torque tune with traction control off, but it doesn't matter in the 93 race tune...off or on I can roast the tires through three gears and scare the hell out of any passenger with me as I try and tame the beast lol. I use the torque tune instead of the race tune on the street for that very reason. Was leaving Autozone one day and a few customers and employees were hanging outside and asked me to do a burnout. I turn onto the road and from a slight roll get into it and lit it up all the way for several hundred feet ...needless to say the rubber is still there haha. Guaranteed fun with the tunes.


As far as Diablosport v. SCT, I know that I had one issue with my SCT once but knowing what has been said about latent power possibly causing issues when it tripped off I waited for the power to click off and then started the tune. It worked flawlessly ever since then, but I try to do it while at home just in case. SCT says they're working on it, and other than this recent drama they've had a fairly reputable product for years now so consider that when shopping for a tuner. I kept with SCT simply for the convenience of more local dyno shops use SCT tuning instead of Diablosport, but in the future that all could change.

I m just hoping to make a decision and place an order by friday.

Btw any downsides to buying a used "unmarried" sct programmer?

None...I've bought three previous XCals and a Livewire all used and had zero problems with them, just had to update the firmware and was good to go.

Awesome! We appreciate your business and let me know if I can be of any assistance when you're ready to pull the trigger on a tuner.

There's nothing wrong with buying a used tuner as long as it's unmarried. I would also check the amount of unlocks that are left on the device in case you ever trade in your car and get another Stang! Just keep in mind that SCT's are 379.99. If the deal is good enough on the device that after you buy tunes or into a tune program that you'll still be saving money, then it's not a bad idea at all!

Is it possible to, after loading the custom tune to the car, hook the programmer to my computer, download the stock program from my car located on the programmer to my computer as a backup, in case the programmer crashes and loses all of the tune information ?
