They make an adapter piece that will help it stay snug and fill the recessed spot at the top of the boot. I learned this after I installed a Boss **** and got it seized on there. So, I had to improvise. Mine has some very small zip ties holding it down and snug and then a black rubber grommet from a valve cover breather filling the recessed space at the top. It actually looks pretty good and you do not notice it. I have a JHR delrin **** and adaptor I would like to try....but like I said, my Boss **** is freakin' seized on my shifter.

The first step of installing a new shifter:

"remove shift **** from stock shifter."
