Bama Tunes

Hello All,
First, I will say that I am new to the forum so any help with my question would be much appricated...

I have a 2013 GT/CS w/manual transmission. The only mod I have is Roush Alxeback exshaust.

I have been kicking around the idea of getting a Bama tune... My question is I currently have only 350 miles on the engine, is there a break in period I should wait before I go ahead with a preformance tune.

I'm old school, so I would put on a couple thousand miles if it were mine.

DSpel1SG,

Welcome to the forums!

I hope you are enjoying your 13' GT, I must say what an amazing machine!

Lets touch base on the break in period! Everybody is different, some people will do a break stand in the dealership parking lot! Others will wait about 3k to break in the car before ripping it.

Our tunes are 100% save. You would be fine if you installed a tune to your 13' now.

However I do like to give the car a chance to react. My personal advice would be, put some hard miles on it and get all the little warranty stuff outta the way LOL!

I hope this makes your decision a little bit easier! Hit me up if you have any further question, or you could contact Bama directly with any questions! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 10AM-3PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

Do you offer a tune similar to the steeda cammed tune for a 2013 GT automatic?

Our Bama Tunes are completely custom and can be adjusted to any liking you want. I suggest trying out the Bama recommended shift points and firmness first for your 2013 5.0L Auto. Then from there, you can contact Bama to have them tweak the tune to your liking.

Personally, I like the extremely sensitive throttle and hard/fast shift points for the S197 Stangs! Everybody is different though. Feel free to call Bama up at the number in my signature if you have any more Tuning questions.

Hope this helps!

2011mustanggt,

We do some aftermarket forced induction for 05-10 Mustangs. We're looking into doing a wider range of models/years in the near future though! Here's the current list off our AM site that we don't currently tune for.

We first teamed up with BamaChips a few years ago. They were an already established tuning company and since then we've expanded the company to be what it is today. So we never had a say in the name!

I beat the crap out of mine for 1000 miles; changed the oil to the Mobil 1 EP line, and installed the Steeda 93 tune with their CAI. The car now has 11,600 miles and couldn't be stronger. It doesn't take 5k to break in a car(there are other ways just as good or better ). Many are broke in on a dyno with a handful of pulls (how I broke-in my LS1 car). This is just personal preference really and isn't always a right or wrong answer.

I had a bama tune on my 2005 auto. Loved it! Really woke the care up. I went with steeda for my 2011 and am also very very happy with it. You should know that installing a tune will VOID your warranty as long as Ford is concerned!

Didn't stop me, but has made me nervous!

I don't see why the car should be "broken" in first. as long as you dont FLOOR it you should be fine with tuning it right off the showroom floor.. am i right? If you don't beat it up it will be fine. But I suppose getting the tune may cause you to want to test it out

Shane, I called you guys today for some info and I just wanted to verify what they told me.

I have a 2010 GT and the SCT tuner with the Bama tunes. I am going to trade in the 2010 for a 2013 GT with 6 speed manual. If my tuner's sn is X3 I need to buy a new tuner and tunes. If the tuner's sn is SC3 I can buy just the tunes and get them emailed to me, right?

The new 13's suppose to be 420 hp. I am not going to race it, I just want it quick off the line. Besides increasing the throttle reponse, does the 93 octane Street tune give me any more noticable torque and/or hp?

Thanks.

Joe C

I started with Bama tunes and had zero issues, the race tune is amazing! Then went to a custom dyno tune from Performance Dyno in NH, Pete said the Bama ran a tad rich, and readyness monitors were off originally and now MA checks for it, so that also had to be adjusted. I only run the Race tune when autocrossing and default to the custom tune for DD duties. Remember a tune can void your powertrain warranty.
