I didn't realize you could use the C&L tube with the stock airbox. I'm going to try that and measure the restriction of the "hybrid" intake. If it's the same as the factory we'll know the box is the culprit. If it flows as freely as the C&L with open element we'll know the tube is the restriction.
Cool.

Here is what airaid says:

Constructed of cross-linked, high-density polyethylene, the AIRAID® MIT provides a smooth path to the throttle body that flows up to an additional 400 cfm over restrictive stock intake tubes.

Hmmm. I was under the impression that C&L used the same tube for the Boss and the GT. I just tried to mate my stock air box to the C&L tube and found it is much larger than the factory filter housing outlet, even using the C&L silicone reducing coupler. Oh well. I'm not particularly concerned with IAT at idle anyway.

I had already strategically located some pieces of foam to close up some gaps in the C&L heat shield so mine actually works somewhat better than when I first got it.

you are correct the tube for boss and gt should have been the same. i really tightened it down on the air box end. if it turns out to be a problem i can always throw the filter back on. no vacuum leaks that were readily noticeable. ill get the soapy water tomorrow and double check. ran it pretty hard this afternoon and didn't notice any problems.

Be careful...you don't get vacuum leaks ahead of the throttle plate so, a leak here is can just ingest crap into the motor or unmetered air, without noticeable effect. That's how engines get burnt up.

Soapy water works great for identifying pressure leaks.
For vacuum leaks with the engine idling spray a mist of carburetor cleaner at the joints. If there is a leak the idle will rise.

You are totally right. Not sure how my brain managed to misplace this info. Thanks

No problem.
Just to be safe.
You might want to spray some carb cleaner on a Q-tip and dab a drop on the plastic parts in an inconspicuous place to make sure it doesn't soften, or turn the plastic white.
The silicone coupling will be fine.

Was going to use airraid but their elbow won't fit the Maggie. So...roush intake with Maggie elbow.

The airraid was a great piece when I had it, back when I was NA.

The trunk emblem from a 2001 Escort is a perfect fit. I kid you not. Looks awesome at that.

AM now sells C&L, maybe they bought 'em out.

Could be. Rumors were that someone was buying the company. That was a few months ago. Haven't heard anything since then

You know what's funny is that AM charges $20 more for the "Racer" version which is exactly the same as the "Street" version minus the no-tune MAF insert. In essence you pay more for less.

That Looks really nice. I am interested in getting this for my 2014 5.0 but was wondering if the Airaid tube has a MAF sensor relocator, or is it just the tube? I currently have the Roush Air Filter kit and want this tube attached to it.

Thanks,

Johnny

The MAF sensor stays on the factory airbox .. the AIRAID is just the tube.
