AEM 2011 mustang GT cold air intake pics

picked my car up today from AEM with the first cold air intake of thiers. the car feels alot better, i have not done any tuning to the car yet. here are a few pics of it that i took with my iphone. the intake is a dry filter that attaches to the stock snorkel for air, it is quiet and has a sealed filter with a small gauge that lets you know when to clean the filter. the fit is also perfect on this intake.

that im not sure, but the engineers at AEM said no tune is needed. i am going to log some afrs in the next couple days to check. but the car feels stronger, i have always used AEM products and they are always top notch quality.

AEM has done domestics for a while, the Brute Force line of intakes is used on trucks and SUVS

I like the look of this intake a lot. Very simple and clean. Only thing that I notice is the small filter size. Now that you've had it, what are your thoughts?

Get that thing on a dyno.
Let's see some numbers and A/F readings.

With that closed in and tiny filter I'd be surprised if it gained 10-12 RWHP and isn't running lean.

Be careful, this new computer will make some changes to the tune to compensate for a larger CAI, but it will only do so for 20-30 miles.

Also that metal tube will get very hot and transfer that heat to the incoming air negating much of the gain in HP.

It may work just fine, but I've tested enough intakes to know that you should not go by what the manufacture says alone.
Get it on the dyno to see what you got.

Good luck
Jay

not to rain on your parade...but what is the purpose of this set-up ?
it looks really cool ! but I'm gonna have to agree with Tucker.....hot pipe...closed filter, no tune. does AEM offer any dyno results ? how much $$ ?

I followed that Jannety Racing test closely and the intake tube material had no impact on the results. Like you said, the intake air is moving too fast at that point to readily absorb any transferred heat. What's more, I was at SEMA and learned that AEM uses a ceramic flake in their powdercoating to reduce heat transfer even further, so the aluminum vs. plastic tube argument has no credence. BTW, the intake with the highest HP gain in that Camaro test used a dryflow filter from AEM, so I think this kit is good to go.

What is important? The overall design and length of the system, where it draws air from, the location of the MAF and IAT sensors (if separate), and the capacity of the air filter. That said, this looks like one of the better systems out there. However, Ford's stock intake is already a decent design, so I'd bet your lucky to see a 10HP gain with this intake--in stock tune. Now, if you do a little tuning and...

I also think that's AEM's synthetic "dryflow" filter, so no oil = easy to wash and re-use. I can't wait to see this in person.

this was quoted form another forum i posted on by a ford engineer. before you guys go bashing it, learn the facts first.

and the filter isn't small its actually big.

Why didn't AEM dyno test this?
You should to know your safe.

Let's see what it does, not what others said in other threads about other cars.
Let's get to the bottom of your car with that intake and see those numbers.

they did do dyno before and after, they are waiting for the engineer to approve the use of the dyno sheets on the net.
