401A Shifter Help

So I've spent quite a bit of time looking for a similar situation on the other threads, but I haven't seen anything. I have a 2012 GT Premium with the 401A aluminum shifter, and over the course of the winter, I've noticed that whenever I start the car and go from neutral to first, and first to second gear, there is a horrendously loud squeak. I can clearly hear it over the engine and radio. It almost sounds like two pieces of metal rubbing together. Interestingly, this happens only with first and second gear, and also the squeaking disappears completely after 5-10 minutes of driving. Since it started over the winter and disappears after the car gets warm, I assumed it was simply because it was cold, however it is now spring and the squeak has only gotten louder over time. Has anyone had this problem before or have suggestions? I have been looking into changing to a Barton 2 post bracket to help with shifting, but I wonder if it could solve this squeaking problem as well.

Could be the rubber boot under the shift boot? It might contract/expand depending on the temps. It shouldn't, but that's just an idea...

Perhaps. Hopefully over the weekend I'll have time to take it apart and see if there is some sort of wear
