You can let me know too but I'm leaning towards the other gears for my car. I'm still curious about others too. So what do you roll through at?

I thought I heard 3.73's put you crossing in 5th. Which is why I'm inquiring. I want some different gears but don't want to be in 5th at the end of a quarter. I have 3.31's right now

3.73's will let you cross in 4th, but tire height does affect that. And of course your shifting and launch. But yea should roll through in 4th without much of a problem

It depends on your mods (power), redline, and the DA you typically run in.

With a 7,000 RPM redline you can go 114 in 4th (127 if you bump it up to 7,800).

With the 3.73's I was going through the traps at about 115 around 7,100 RPM. I haven't made a pass on them yet but even with 4.10's I should be able to stay in 4th. Will be tickling the 7,800 redline at around 116 MPH (typically 2,000+ ft DA). If I run out of gear I'll just step up to a 28 inch tire and should be good to 120 mph.

I'm running boss intake, jlt cai, off road h, flowmaster, 295/45-18 tire and a Bama race tune. Redline is at 7600 right now. I want some more pull and acceleration but don't want to sacrifice to much top end and don't want to roll through the quarter in 5th.

You should be good to go then with the 3.73's. I don't know off the top of my head but with a 7,600 redline you should be able to go about 123 or so in 4th (on a 27 inch tire). I don't think even at sea level with your mods you'd trap over 123.

Good to know. I want some more pull in my stang but hate to pay so much for the install then not like them and go through the quarter in 5th.

I have 3.73's in my '11 GT. With 26" tall drag radials I had to use 5th in the 1/4 mile. I now run 28" tall drag radials and cross the traps in 4th gear at 116 mph at about 7,000 rpm's. I have my rev limiter set to 7,500 rpm's just in case I can find more power or race in mineshaft air and go faster.

Thanks man that's what I'm wondering. My 3.31's are nice but I feel like my car would really rip with some 3.73's. I just hate to waste money if I don't like them. My car pulls but it doesn't put me back in the seat like my cousins c6 vette does and were very even in a race. He pulls me by about a half a car.

Same here, ran a 26 inch tall tire and in 4th @ 7300 rpm.
I know run a 28 drag radial and cross around 7k, both are getting me across @ 114.45mph.
I have 3.73 and the stock rear tire is alittle over 27 tall.
So far my best time is 12.22. MY Boss is stock except drag radial and MGW shifter.
I'm heading back this Friday, weather permitting and shooting for 11s.
Our track is 900ft elevation, but it was 90s and humid and that day it was 2975ft corrected.

so why not give yourself a little breathing room for future mods and go with 3.55's?

Good to know. My car pulls hard with the gears it has but theres room for improvement. I just don't want to go to drastic. Especially of I go F/I in the future.
