nice well it sounds like you've thought about this objectively from all angles and made your decision. with your attention to detail, I'm sure it's going to come out fantastic. i'm looking forward to reading the build journal and seeing how good it comes out.
plus, it should be way more plug and play than this:

Oooooh, optional upgrades:
Comp Cams - $1500

Has anyone here put these in their motor yet? If so, did you get the old-school bumpty-bump of an uneven idle?

Well, I was re-crunching the numbers and doing more research, and it's starting to look futile. IF I went all new OEM (except the crate motor), it would run about $16.5k to make the swap. If I shot the wad and got did everything I wanted to, the cost approaches $18k. Again, this is if I were to get all new stuff. I have no idea what it would cost if I found a donor salvage car, and stripped it of the parts I needed off of it.
My list of parts is fairly comprehensive, so if anyone is interested, I can post a web page detailing what I've discovered, but I'm pretty bummed that it's so freakin' expensive.

We're you seriously thinking of swapping a v8 into a newer v6 body? Really?
My first mustang was a V6 and when I saw your story and blog pics I knew it was only a matter of time before your regret club membership card came in the mail.
Nobody buys coupes for economy unless they're elantra or civic coupes. The V6 mileage and insurance savings never really materialized IMO.

I hope you plan on keeping this car forever, because like the guy said, it will just resell or trade for what a another plain jane v6.
But you did say you don't care about the money, so that being said, Id like to place a order in for some cat backs, f.racing s/c, a gas card would be great too....lol
I'm not trying to put ya down and I think some other people aren't either, just warning you, and it probably helping you confirm your decision. Or to change it.
Hope your project works out, looking forward to see the pics. Good luck to ya

When I had an Ls1 back in 01/02, there was a guy on our forum with the name of LS1firebird. He basically did the same thing and it worked out great for him. The wiring harness was his biggest pain. He was a young guy that was mechanically inclined , saved a ton of money and had a sweet car. The money savings doesn't seem to be as prevalent here.

Seeing as you're not doing the swap anymore, I would just return the car back to stock. Then trade it in on an '11-'14 GT in PW and add all the mods back on

I know you had your heart set on this and you were jazzed about the project. but in the end I think you are better off. I fear that it would have brought on a lot of headaches at a high cost. Keep us informed as to what you end up getting. Good luck.

News flash...you could strip your stang down, trade it for a 5.0 and make it look exactly the same as your v6 plus a blower for much cheaper than 18k. What on earth are you thinking?
Don't buy anything else for your car, and sell it man. You will thank me later. If you buy a white base 2011-12, almost all of your aftermarket parts will be a direct fit. Including the hood. The first step towards fixing the problem is admitting to yourself that you've made a bad decision buying that car in the first place. Cut your losses and move on.
