1 3/4 Long Tubes worth it at a good price?

Well I've searched all over and it's basically a split decision on the 1 3/4 vs 1 7/8 long tubes debate. Some say the 1 3/4 will be fine up till the higher HP applications BUT if you have the option to buy the 1 7/8 to get them since they dont hurt power and cost about the same.....here's my situation.....

Can pick up a set of Bassani 1 3/4" stainless LTs for about $450 slightly used. Is the cheap price worth jumping on the 1 3/4? I wasn't going to tune just yet but this could change that or if get them I may just wait till next spring to install. What you guys think?!?

I have BBK 1-3/4 long tubes, x-pipe, Steeda CAI and tune. Went from 358hp/351tq stock to 420HP/398tq on a Dyno jet with the hood closed. I was told with a few more miles and better air the numbers would increase a little. Some shops run the Dyno with the hood open which is usually good for another 7-8HP/tq

I have used long tubes on several cars and enjoy the sound more than the power gains. I would bet half of the 62HP gain was from LTs/off road xpipe combo. High flow cats would only take out about 5hp.

One thing people forget about is the improve throttle response and smoothed power band you get from long tubes ( a CAI helps with these as well).

I'm also curious about it, or even what it's truly worth. I am about to purchase my '13 GT, and I'm curious if long tubes are a must have or if the stock exhaust flows well.

Danielle, the stock headers flow pretty good. People are in the 9s and 10s with them. But long tubes are good for a decent amount of power and the sound is awesome

Wow, that's sort of a relief, because it was pretty much mandatory with a 6 liter GTO.

i bought the smaller ones (1 3/4 KOOKS).... i was told from Dez racing that were advised for a N/A motor it would kill the low RPM torque with the larger runners,

i couldn't be happier

Mike told you that? Wow. He's dead wrong on that.
