Question Tune results for 2010 GT?

Does anyone have a feel for what I can expect from a tune on a 2010 GT? I'm considering the standard SCT tuner with perhaps the SCT provided tunes or tunes from Brenspeed, Bama, etc.

I'm interested in both fuel economy and performance; I like the idea of an 87-octane street tune and a 93-octane performance tune, so I can use the street tune for commuting and the performance tune when I want to have fun.

Right now the only mod on the car is the Roush intake (the one that does not require a tune) ; likely future mods are axle-back exhaust (probably Borla or GT500) and underdrive pulleys.

Is the difference with a tune really noticeable on the 2010 GT?

thanks in advance!

I don't sweat the 2011 Mustangs. I got a 2010 with factory 3.73 gears and 5 spd. manual and ran 13.49@103mph as stock as the day I bought it. I know I'll get beat by a similar 2011, but it's easy to catch someone asleep at the light.

Ahhhhhh Ha so this is where you 2010 owners meet and plot to take out the 2011's

I was a little skeptical about a tune for my car but not anymore.I have both BlowByRacing,Brenspeed 91 octane tunes for my car and they are awesome tunes.

The only reason I did'nt buy a 2010,is my ordered 2011 came in a couple days after I told my dealer to hold a nice silver 2010 with trackpack for me.

I was going to get the 2010 after a test drive but after I confirmed my 2011 was on a train and in El Paso I decided to wait.

I'm sure the 2010's respond to a tune just as much if not more then the 11 so I say go for it

now I will report back to the 2011 owners on what you guys are plotting

I think the 2010 owners caused the delays for the 2011s

I have a Steeda CI ,a Roush cat back exhaust,an SCT tuner with Bama Tunes. They all make a noticeable difference. I have an 87 street tune,87performance tune and a 91 race tune. I have run them all, the 87 performance and 91 race are excellent and rather similar in feel, the 87 street tune was a real disappointment . It bogged down easily and had no pep at all ! I run the 87 performance tune with good results and mileage. You would enjoy them, but don't get the 87 street tune unless they have refined it.

Thanks, Tom! The 87 tune is as refined as it can get. We have changed it since this past April. So I don't know when the last time you had it was, if it was before then... call and get all of your tunes updated!

Thanks for the good feedback, though!

Oh noez! I shouldn't be posting in the 4.6L section! But just curious... how often do you "update" tunes? I'm sure since the 11s haven't been out long you will be finding more little ways to find power and other good things, so I'd like to get updates, if so.

The 11's are a different story. Wait another month or two and that way any last pieces that have been added to the SCT database that are useful to us will be updated. Some companies are going to tell you that it's as good as it's going to get and you don't need an update. That's simply not true. Updated to the definitions and new parameters are coming out every day. If they were useless, they wouldn't be there, nor added.

As for the 05-09's, just if their tunes are older than say March/April, anything past middle of April is 100% as far as it's going to get. They're a product of years of experience in the tuning field between Mike Wilson and myself. I'm very happy with our S197 tunes!

Got my updated tunes downloaded to my tuner. The 87 street tune is great and the only one I have tried so far. Great performance and good gas mileage. It has given a new feeling to my 2010 . Great job Bama !Thanks especially to Chris at SCT for his patience and skill in helping me to upgrade my online tunes to my tuner !!!

Thanks everyone for the input -- right now my mod plans are on hold because I might move to France for a temporary job assignment! But if I stay here in the US the tune and also underdrive pulleys will be on the mods short list. Better throttle response would be worth it alone.

Tune made a noticeable difference especially in throttle response.

The tune is definitely worth it. I have the SF3 canned tune and it's awesome.

I'm going back to K&N in a few months for an intake and another dyno run w/ the tune...

but here is a baseline result w/ muffler delete:

Question: Is a SCT with a reputable & popular tune like the brenspeed, AM, Bama, Tillman, etc. going to blow me away? Is it more than more sensitive throttle? I have plans for FI, but will have to wait awhile....refuse to borrow money for mods. Will a tune get my attention for a while? other than throttle, what exactly else is going on? I know timing is advanced, I get that, but will it help wake up the motor between 3K and 5K, where I spend alot of time. I understand this motor isn't going to blow me away with torque like some of the other push-rod V8's out there.

Honestly I think it is 80% more sensitive throttle but that's just a feeling I have. But that is a pretty noticeable difference. I have a custom tune not anybodies box tune so your results may vary. But the car feels noticeably faster. I am doing a SC install this winter so I will be going back to the same tuner and having the SCT to store more than one tune was something I thought I might want.

I have the 2010 GT with 93 Performance Tune and....words cannot describe the increase in power. I also have the 93 Race Tune, have not flashed that yet, waiting until spring. Question?? Could the tune be responsible for my HORRIFYING throttle stick I recently experienced? I was cruising about 30 mph in 3rd gear, decided to floor it for a little fun (tune works great in 3rd) The pedal leaves my foot and sticks to the floor! The car is quickly gaining on the car in front of me even as I was slamming on the brakes. I popped it into neutral and of course the engine revs like nobody's business, tapped the throttle again with my right foot and it pops up. After slowing down, I promptly drove home an sat in my car for 5 minutes trying to get my heart rate to slow down. Should I disable the tune and go back to factory settings or is this a design flaw??? Please advise....worried in Ohio.

OMG! That's terrifying. Sounds like a physical problem rather than a software issue to me....better have it looked into for sure.
