Header's on a 2010

Anyone put shorties, long tubes or bbk (Tuned) headers on a 2010? If so how do you like them and what exhaust are you running?

Really headers are a waste of money. You can easily SC for 450hp at the rear wheels with no headers so why put up with the noise and extra expense? If you want more than 450hp you have to do the forged motor which means the motors coming out and in that case you wouldn't put shorties on as they don't do any good in any case. I guess if you just want noise go for it.

I haven't actually done mine, thinking about it, but from what I have read Kookes long tubes are the way to go, and you might pick up about 20 HP naturally aspirated.

I do like the idea of mods that improve efficiency -- more power without drinking more gas -- so that's why I like the idea of headers.

But like 908 says the cost/benefit is not that great, the big bang for the buck is definitely a supercharger and if you go that route you don't really need the headers.

IMO, shorty headers arent worth it. If you are going to do it, go longtubes. You'll see some gains in hp and tq like Bert said above

with my mods I'm at 321/330 at the wheels..the headers and x-pipe combo sounds great. I even have the stock axle backs and it still turns heads.. I am very happy with choosing to go with LT's and they will only add to the power if you add a supercharger... just my $.02... I even peek under the hood to check out the badge on my headers every once in a while (o: cold air intake is a good purchase but will have to come off if u get it blown

Not everyone has the $ for a supercharger even though I'm sure all want one. I'm going to get one eventually but can't right now. So the headers and cams aren't going to do u bad. If u out a supercharger on all your going to do is get More out of the bolt ons. I got pypes long tubes with off road hpipe straight pypes to pypes muffler delete tips. Loud and sounds awesome.

IMO longtubes did quite a bit. But only when paired with a cai.

I have Pypes shorty headers, Pypes o/r x-pipe and Pypes "Pype-bomb" exhaust and love the sound. Are they worth the money to me? Yes as to SC I'd be looking at a minimum of $4-5k, this cost me less than $1k with installation.

All noise and no go...great if that's what you want.

Shorty headers do very little. They have a little bit of added power down low but in higher rpm they're worse then stock. If you're gonna do a header upgrade its best to go longtube or not at all IMO.

There was definitely an increase in noise, but the shop ran it on their Mustang Dyno before and after and there was a gain in HP so I wouldn't say "all noise and no go".

The OP didn't ask which set-up gained the most HP, he simply asked how do you like them and my original answer stands.

I'm sure you can, I didn't claim 50hp gains so why are you busting my *****? The OP asked a simple question which I answered, you on the other hand jumped straight to telling him to SC. Giving him an answer to a question he didn't ask.

Headers will open up a little flow and even out exhaust pressure between cylinders. I've actually heard headers quiet down an exhaust system with stock mufflers and resonators. Headers will actually be safer for and engine at high rpms than manifolds. You may not notice a gain in overall horsepower but the power band may shift from low end to high end. I'm a fan of headers even shorties. Other than the occasional exhaust leak, I've never heard a complaint by someone who has them.
As far as brands, I prefer MAC. Not as heavy gauged steel or stainless and usually have less leaks because of this. Bassani and BBK use a heavy gauge stainless that don't give enough to stay sealed.
Also if you are going forced induction, you want a free flow exhaust system. The more in your engine, the more you want to get out.

Short tubes are worthless.

Long tubes are great if you're already forged and spending $20k to make 600 plus rwhp. At 450rwhp long tube headers are a waste since you can make 450rwhp for $3500 without them so why add an additional money when any extra hp has to be tuned out or you will blow your motor?

True that's why i'm not adding anything new performance. I'm just gonna spend $2.5k and forge the motor, then do a '13 TVS w/D.O.B. I know I don't have to go forged but this is my dd and i don't want to take any chances and if i decided to drop some real money into the car the bottom end is already taken care of
