Center Cap Issue

Bought Saleen 18x9s and GT center caps from AM. Dealer didnt put the caps on when mounting b/c they werent sure if I wanted to keep the AM caps that were on. (Why would I give them caps if I wanted to keep the ones on? But I digress...) They did remove the AM caps, though, and said whichever ones I want to use should snap right in. Reviews on AM seem to confirm this. These caps will not go in though. They fit and push in until almost flush with the wheel, but wont seat in. I can just twist them out by hand. Tried a rubber mallet & microfiber towel, busted the face of one cap. AM sent me 4 new caps but before I try this again, any suggestions? Guess Ill pull the wheels if it doesnt work but dont want to, if I dont have to.

I wonder if there is a snap ring on the inside that was left for some reason. That could be taking up just enough space that the new ones won't seat all the way. Can you feel inside?

I find center caps are stupidly frustrating. Apparently my Bullitt wheels are an 1/8' different size from other factory wheels... Why isn't there a standard size for all wheels?!?!

Just got off the phone w/ AM again and their solution is to file down the edges. WTF?
