2010 V6 to V8?
I know I am a newb and probably going to get laughed at for this one.
But I want to swap my 6 banger to an 8. (I'm sick of the reputation of a 6; and it can't do crap)
5.0 Crate engine is available for 6k-7K.
What all would I need?
Selling and Rebuying is not an option. It was given to me as a gift from my Grandfather. So that it is out of the question.
I know it is extremely hard, and some say it's not worth it, but I think it is.
I was considering a SuperCharger or Turbo, but I recently discovered that if it not a Ford part that it voids my warranty (I have the 7 year *sigh*) but Ford doesn't make any Supers for V6s. But they make engines.
I know I need: Engine, gas lines, brakes, suspension, Pcm/Ecu, wiring harness, rear, driveline.. What else?
I asked my Dad if this was possible, he said yes, and whatever I can afford to do I can do. What am I looking at?

The easiest way would be to obtain a car(s) that is rendered totaled but that's always dicey too...
With direct parts and install you're probably going to be looking at 15k... Easy.
The engine itself is coming out of Ford Parts at $6,129.99 http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...L-Crate-Engine with shipping of another $150. So figure 6,300.
Plus with what you mentioned along with driveshaft, differential, axle shaft, all the bearings and seals, cooling fan, radiator, exhaust, motor mounts, the air box, k member, the list goes on and on... parts alone will be costly.
I mean, what's your motive for the swap? because 'it can't do crap'? Be serious... trade it in, stick with it, or throw on some already proven mods. Check this vid for inspiration. http://www.americanmuscle.com/2005-v6-project-car.html
Also, in a sense of hope you can enter this and hope for the best:

I appreciate all the help, but I think I'll pick up a project car or something.
Like an '03 Cobra. or Maybe a '67 Shelby GT500 (Replica), Ford GT40, and it goes on and on.
Hell, maybe even a Viper, I hear they're not that hard to piece together. I dunno. I would really love to take like a wrecked '05 Stang GT and transform it into a Shelby. Dunno.

Wait, so due to the price and shear effort involved with an engine swap you might pick up a 03' Cobra, Ford GT40 or Viper? You make it sound like those are cheaper options. If you're really looking for a different engine then just trade the car in on a used 10' GT (I know you said you can't, but that's the only realistic option), you'd probably end up investing the same for an engine swap and parts etc.

You sound very young and inexperienced.
Also, even if you did a Ford crate motor, it would still void your 7 year warranty. The only warranty you would end up with is the parts warranty.
Basically, you are just stuck with what you have, a really good looking car with a so-so motor.
Ask Gramps if he minds if you trade up to a GT, or trade up to a 2011 V6, either one will work for what you want.

Thanks, I'm going to just stick with it and invest in a project car. My dad found a 1965 Stang thats needs a complete restoration for $1,650. I think I'm going to go with that. Thanks for all the help guys.

If your grandfather was cool enough to buy you the V6 'stang in the first place, I bet he'd understand and appreciate it if you traded it in for a 2011 5.0 . . . but the '65 project car will be fun too . . . and also a lot of work, I hope you have a lot of time on your hands

But yes, the 65 would be great, I don't have a ton of time on my hands, but that's the fun part. I would be in absolutely no hurry to finish it. (Probably couldn't afford to work too fast) haha.

Well, yeah, he is a Ford man and has owned a few 8cylinders in his life, so he knows the power they have. Orginally we were looking at 2010 GTs, but he sees things as: it gets you from point A to B and is nice; there is no need for a V8 because it is more expensive, higher insurance, worse on gas, and I wouldn't (shouldn't) use the extra horsepower. So I don't need an V8.
Good luck with whatever you do.

I think the only option is to swap you 6 into 8. Selling and rebuying is out of option so that's the only option you have. The final decision is yours.

Let me get a few things straight.
You're 16, your grandpa gave you a car, you want to put a v8 in it.
you find out how costly it is, and out of left field you are now interested in a cobra, gt40 or a viper, you must make alot of money at your job.
LOL
