2010 supercharger

I'm thinking about possibly trading in my 2010 for a 13 or supercharging it in a couple months. i was thinking about getting the Roush m90 supercharger put on. Is that a good supercharger that will still be reliable

Yup. Good blower. Full kit from Roush is very reliable. Makes some pretty good power too.

You could get the supercharger made by ford and make 550hp!

What's the most you could get without risking ruining the engine

The best rule of thumb I have heard is 500rwhp as a maximum. With a proper dyno tune from a good tuner. Some have had more and been fine.

My tuner got 505 with my Saleen SC and he and I agreed to dial it back a bit and I have been running 479rwhp without problems for about 3.5 years and 12,000 miles.

480 is no guarantee to be 100% safe though. But chances are if done correctly it will be ok.

Just caught that was quoted as rwhp. I've always thought that the general 'safe' limit was 500 at the crank.

I've always understood it to be RWHP since we can measure that on a chassis dyno.

Now obviously those differ and there's some margin of error but if you try to extrapolate to the crank hp you are adding more possibility of error.

Nobody's pulling a engine and putting it on a dyno.

Anyway. The guys that came before me meant RWHP. Some pushed over that. I think the safest number is 450. Never heard of anyone having problems at 450.

But that's not enough hp for the trouble to me.

M90 is not big enough for the 4.6l motor don't waste your money.

The M122 from the GT500 is ideal and cheaper. Makes more hp with less heat.

Blown 4.6l

People buy supercharged Shelbys and daily drive them. If anything it will make it more fun to drive.

But the install and the tune are critical to the longevity of the car. Now you will have to use premium fuel with the SC. I would consider that also.

Also with an SC you have to disable traction control each time you drive it. It protects the motor from having fuel starved to it should traction control kick in.

So plan on having no traction control either which would suck if you daily drive in the winter in a cold climate.

or the Roush TVS 2300 . . . more money than the M90 or the GT500 take-off + DBA manifold and parts, but a nice complete kit

Not true. The throttle closes so air fuel ratio stays safe. Traction Control is mostly brakes in any case.

As someone with a 5.0L....
That's a tough choice!

On one hand,
4.6L - Strong and known through and through.
Supercharged - Enough said. lol Gotta love that whine and how cool it looks!
On the side it could read GT and underneath "Supercharged"

And the other hand,
5.0L - Famous new engine (though less knowledge due to age)
N/A - Being stock means being safe and still having 420hp+ on tap. Again, thats stock! (on premium)
On the side it DOES read 5.0

Hard decision... :/ Good luck though!

If you go with 5.0L you need to worry about the transmission problems that come hand in hand with the standard tranny.

Isn't that 420hp at the crank, so after drivetrain loss you are in the 357rwhp range?
