Sterling Gray Detailed
I spent this past Saturday detailing my '11 SG 5.0. I have had the car since September '10 and this is the first time I've done a proper exterior detail on it. Ford's clear coat and paint quality is very good so there were only very light swirls if any.
I used Griot's clay with Adam's quick detail as lubricant (smells good ). Polished with Meguiar's #9 and an orange pad. Topped it off with Poorboy's EX sealant applied with a blue pad. Mother's Back-to-Black used on the black plastic trim. Followed everything up with a shot of Adams quick detail. I might add a layer of S100 this weekend but so far it looks good.
Look at that flake. If you are wondering what MAZOC is, it's the car club I started in 2009 when I still had my 370Z. Mid-Atlantic 370Z Owner's Club. It's evolved a bit since then and we actually have a couple Mustang owners in the group. But all of us have ties to the 370Z somehow.
My S2000 in the background... she's in need of a good bit of paint correction. Lots of swirls.
Don't worry, I was finished using that pad on the ground and threw it away.

Thanks guys!
Ingot Silver was the first color 5.0 I drove. I really liked it and came close to buying one from a local dealer until I found this SG in St. Louis.

Thanks guys. I sold her this past weekend. Couldn't believe how good the paint still looked after over two years of ownership. My Z's paint (with Nissan's horrible paint/clear) looked 10 years older after only one year.

I'm not sure what color I want yet. I am guessing I will end up with red but I want to see Night Race blue and their dark gray in person first. Z51 with Magnetic shocks and the Competition seats... omg.
I'm so excited about the C7. Corvette has always had world class performance. It's about time it's got world class everything!

Yeah I was floored during the reveal. And the more I read the more I liked it.
Honestly I felt like I'd never be happy with a sports car unless I bought a 911, which I always felt was the "total package" blending looks, handling, power, and refinement... but I think I might find happiness in a Corvette now!
