Correct, you have to cut to fit, my Exacto knife was my friend. It comes in 3 pieces, hood roof and trunk with more than enough Vinyl to do it all and have a screw up or 2 on the smaller panels

I had been looking for a vendor that sells the stripes in all the precut sections, but you just made a point that I hadn't considered--having enough extra to redo any screwed-up sections. I've been a bit worried about how well those small panels will turn out on my first attempt. I might need to reconsider this now and just order them from American Muscle.

 

Thanks MD1. It's hard to see how glossy those stripes are in the photos you posted, except perhaps in that last photo of the side stripes, where the stripes don't look as glossy as the body paint. From the description of one of those stripe kits on that website you posted, it looks like their vinyl comes from Avery.

 

I did the lower front bumper on one side twice as well as the top of the spoiler, I have the back up camera in my spoiler and after cutting and getting it in the recessed parts ended up a little short. Live and learn.

 

Hmm, I have the backup camera too. Now I am leaning back toward getting the precut stripes, since I found one vendor who makes them specifically for Mustangs with the backup camera spoiler.

I'm not sure which is likely to cause me more potential problems--precut stripes that I don't apply properly (and then have no spare vinyl to redo it), or uncut stripes that I cut improperly (but have extra vinyl to play with).

Maybe I should just go the easy route and have them professionally installed.

 

 

Wow, MJJ, that light-colored border on those stripes (I can't tell if they're white, or silver) really make them pop! Are those vinyl, and if so, can you tell me where you bought them?

Black matte stripes came from the factory. They are vinyl.

The med silver metallic pinstripes are from 3M. About $20 for a 150ft roll. You can order directly from their website. They have several colors to choose from.

I'm going to get those silver pinstripes for sure. With that silver accent, you have the nicest-looking black stripes that I have ever seen on a sterling gray Mustang.

One other question: Would you mind measuring the width of your stripes (just the black, not including the pinstripes) at various points on the body, and posting here what they measure? I'm particularly interested in knowing how much the hood section tapers from back to front, if it tapers at all.

Oh man, that's sweet...can anyone ballpark how much stripes run to get installed?

 

One guy told me 600 but in the end I paid 400. I shopped it around and I was told between 300 and 400 depending on the amount of vinyl.

 

Geez. I was quoted $150 in PA and its a reputable detail shop.

 

You were quoted $!50 but did you get it done? is it over the top stripes in full length?

I did the full length at a shop but did my rocker panels on my own.

 

It's $150 for full length stripes and rocker panels.

Will be heading to the detail shop in two weeks.

Note that I'm also paying $250 as well for a detail.
