red metal flake with red clear does not a candy apple make.
Real Candy apple is generally based on Gold paint. Usually a gold metal flake of some sort.
Trust me that color is no where even close to a real deal candy apple red.
Ford couldn't afford to paint the cars in a real candy apple. The bean counters would never allow it.
This is simply a comprimise. But if you like the color then cool. I for one would rather see the real deal if it's gonnna be called Candy apple. Although I guess they get around it by calling it Red Candy not Candy apple red..but we all know what they are trying to say.

Love this color. Woulda ordered an '08 with it, if I coulda swung it.
But I'd not give up Awesome for all the tea in China.
A stablemate? That'd be keen... a nice V6 'vert 08 maybe.
/still no Emberglo...

I have parked next to a Redfire GT and it just doesn't pop like the Candy Red my 2010 does. Definitely not the same color. I wasn't a fan of red cars but had to have this one.
Actually there was only two colors I didn't want Grabber Blue and Sunset Gold.
And candy apple red does not have to be sprayed over gold, it is also sprayed over silver and sometimes pink.

Love the Candy color. When the sun hits it just right it just looks awesome in person. Im not a big red fan and my wife talked me into the Dark Candy and now love it. The only thing that turns me off is the black plastic as the color is so classy to have the black with it.
I love Candy Red. It looks almost identical to Laser Red new. However, hopefully Ford has fixed their "tinted clearcoats". If not, they do not age well. Let me tell you. Look at all the 94-02 Laser Red Mustangs who have spent any time out in the sun. The clearcoat fades and it looks horrible. I'm going to have my current car repainted Laser Red basecoat, with a matte clearcoat. Either that or that red-orange Saleen color.
But good luck to you guys with Candy Red. I hope it ages well, unlike my paint. This being 2009, I hope that Ford has figured out how to mix some better paints and clearcoats than the 90s.

after seeing both the different red's ford offers the stang in, I decided on the candy red metallic. It seems that during the daylight, looking at the 2 red's side by side, the candy red has so much more depth to the color that pushed me to get my 2012 in that color.
