Grabber Blue paint questions
Hey everyone,
I haven't been on here in a long time but wanted to get a bit of feedback form the Grabber Blue owners. How is the paint quality on the GB color? Meaning things like: orange peel and physically rough to the touch spots on the lower door and bumper areas, paint being too thin, etc.
I have only seen one in person and on a cloudy day. I read on another Mustang site while browsing that some were not happy with the quality of the paint job for this color, but I could never get a clear reason why out of them. I really love the color it and Guardsman blue are my favorites. So naturally I am debating getting a GB GT this year, thanks so much for your help!

First thing I did when i received my Grabber Blue was to get it clay'd and waxed. Difference between before and after was huge. I never had any issues with my paint at all. Had the car for a year...put 26k miles on it.

I've had mine for about 3 days now, and the paint job is amazing. When they were taking it off the truck, the chain hit above the drivers side door and chipped it down to the primer, so the dealership is taking it back for a couple of days to fix that, and then give it another look over to see if anything else was scratched.
Other than that, it hides dirt well, i pretty much spot clean it every day when i get back from work.

I also haven't had any issues with the color I think it hides dirt very well. We've had snow at least once a week for the last month or so and it still looks pretty good. I run it through the self clean car wash and rinse it off and it comes up very good. I had it detailed after I bought it so a quick wash does the job for now. Someone sad it turns heads? I don't remember the last time I went out last and haven't noticed anyone looking or saying that's a great color. Although my dealership didn't want one on the lot when I bought it so they had me promise to purchase it if they got it in lol

Thanks for the input everyone! Like I said I never understood the issues that they had stated. All I ever got out of him was that he was an auto body specialist and he did not like the way the GB paint jobs came out, said the metallic colors had better prep work.
Thanks for posting the pics too, Siber your stang looks awesome I love GB and white.
MyStang, that car is SICK. It looks so mean, its a shame you sold it.

I am not much of a red person, don't know why. Just not. I like the Red Candy color and like seeing red cars but I just don't know if I would buy one I would get Orange or Yellow first, but I'm not trying to make the color adjustment harder on you so sorry if it comes off that way. Still I am a bit torn over what to do, I really like my current stang but I really like GB and this is its last year so I am even more tempted.

I have a 2011 GTCS in Race Red. I can tell you that the paint quality is poor on all colors. My 2005 GT's paint was like glass.
I wonder what Ford is doing differently?

If I am not mistaken, I believe the EPA requirements involved changed...becoming more strict and it caused a change in the painting process (chemicals / chemical process) used. Lots of people have complained that the paint is now thinner. Chevrolet has more paint issues than Ford though. The company I work for has bunches of Chevrolet Impalas and the paint is horrible. after just a few years the paint looks worn down to primer / metal on most of our cars. mine is almost 3 years old and I have it washed / waxed regularly.

Yes in fact almost every car manufacturer has orange peel in their paint these days, I have seen BMW and Mercedes with it. The kind of orange peel I am talking about it the kind you can feel as if the sheet metal was bumpy (I had a 03 Tacoma that was like this....). Can't speak for Hyundai as I have never paid much attention to them or been on a lot. Still the paint being thin concerns me, my Stang is garage kept year round and always thoroughly waxed. I am all for protecting the environment but why does it seem when doing so we can't maintain quality.

Not sure what your referring to.... Red Candy has no exterior mods, but on the GB I had Roush side splitters because I LIKE THEM...

Yes I was referring to the GB pics you posted. I was asking from a functionality stand point. I was not sure what they were and considering the lower panels on these new stangs are un painted I was wondering if they were something to help keep the plastic from getting damaged or dirty. I pulled the trigger by the way, a 2012 GB GT will be mine

Thank you!
Yeah I figured as much, if there is one thing I worry about is the plastic on the rockers not holding up (fading being my main concern). I may end up having them painted down the line. BTW thanks I am really looking forward to getting my new GT. It will be great as I will now have owned my two favorite mustang colors Guardsman Blue (which I subbed for Vista Blue) and now Grabber Blue.
