Quick question about the 401A spec for "2012"

I had a 2011 GT Prem, 3.73's, brembo, 401A spec, etc.

That car is no more....

So I'm buying another one, but having to order it (got a 6 build order, so should be here soon) - as no one seems to have at least that base combo. some have it, but only with the 400A spec.

However, in looking at Ford's description for the 401A for 2012 states:

"this interior design trim features a charcoal black interior environment with color accented seats, unique door trim with a bright pony badge and dark aluminum instrument panel"

the one thing I didn't like about my 2011 with the 401A is the passenger side dash wasn't dark like the driver side, looked more like the 400A spec. In looking at the picture on their "build your own" link, the passenger dash looks dark and the same as the rest of the dash. Did they change the 401A for 2012 to actually be charcoal across the board or is the picture just misleading?

Frankly, I'd get the California Special for it's all black interior, but hate the wheels and the brembo is just a great setup - from the wheels, tires and suspension changes - not to mention a heck of a deal (brembo brakes, 19x9" rims, P-Zero's -- the tires alone are $1200 if purchased on their own).

Can anyone confirm if the 2012 401A is all charcoal - i.e. driver and passenger side dash? Can't find a picture anywhere.

I appreciate the help.

thanks,
damon

fyi - old 2011 GT/Brembo

I don't quite have a grasp of what you mean but I agree with 99mstng, mine is the same color all the way across.

I hadn't seen the 401a in person until I got it on my car yesterday. Single best decision I made after deciding to order the car. It's FANTASTIC.

Yea but as long as you keep it conditioned well it won't crease or crack just soft wrinkles due to how soft the leather is. IMO I would rather have the quality leather of the 401a with the wrinkles x10 over the stock leather seats.

All 3 trim panels (left, center, right) should look exactly the same dark color just as in the last picture posted by 12GTBLK. One thing to keep in mind is the left and center panels are made of different material then the right side of the dash that houses the passenger side airbag, however all 3 panels should appear the same color.

I can't imagine any vehicle passing final line inspection with mixed color trim panels even if it had been pulled off the line for a repair that required R&R of part of the dash assembly.

Having said that however, I once came across a brand new car sitting in a dealer showroom with a hood that was the wrong one for the model. Fortunately, once the company was advised of the error they made it right as a goodwill gesture even though the dealer had already signed off on delivery.

BTW, if you want a shock, stop in at your Ford dealer and ask the cost of those 3 small trim panel sections!
