^ Nope, it was a bet I made with my dad. I made a bet that I could get straight A's for 2 years, pulled it off, and he went out and bought me the car (I picked out the wheels). (Im probably the youngest member here) It was worth the hard work in school!

I see. I made a similar bet with my parents, but only for my senior year. But the "winnings" were supposed to be a that they would consign a loan for me for the then-brand-new 2005 GT (not pay for it). I made the grades. They redacted their offer and tried to offer me a brand new Focus instead. I said only way I'm getting into a Focus is if it's a used 2004 SVT in Competition Orange. They said no, and final offer was a full sound system for my then-current ride, my mom's 2000 V6. Since that was my only option at that point, I took it, but my trust for my parents was broken at that point. The build up of my credit that could have taken place (not to mention happiness the GT would've provided) and other lessons that taught me would've proven a lot more useful to me than just "buying me" things.

Now that I have my own child on the way, I will do things a lot differently than my parents did for me.

Congrats, now comes the hard part. With great power comes great responsibility. That 400hp car will get you in trouble quick fast in a hurry if you do not respect it. Remember it is a privileged to drive, not a right. I didn't buy my first V8 till I was 26, knew that a 400hp car would spell trouble for a lead foot....
