Texas mile

Did anyone go or know someone that went over this past weekend. My buddy went and ran 172.1 in his sc challenger. I'll post up his vid later today. Looks like a lot of fun.

fast forward to about the 6:12 mark.
that challenger is a 1 of 10 car nice piece with a added sc and othe mods.
I asked him about what was the fastest MPH and tims and this is what he quotes below
Yeah buddy the cts-v as we're running really hot out there about 183... they were amazing.
The Hennessey GT 40 Randa 263 and then blew t's motor on the next run.
I believe that was the top dog.
I was in staging right next to a Cadillac CTV driven by a local guy that car had some amazing modifications done to it I think it was pushing out somewhere close to about 620 rear wheel horsepower.
Hey get this for comparison there was a modified Viper silver convertible it only ran 8 miles an hour faster than me at the half and at the end of a mile ias well.
Conditions were primo for this event 55 degrees cloudy with a tail wind.

yep

How much modification do you have to do to the car to run the Texas Mile? Its seems like for anything more than a 130 or 150 mph the level of safety equipment gets crazy.

Then you read the caveat in the rules about certain rare or low volume cars that don't have to run all the safety mods (WTF!)

Not that I'm particularly enamored to an endo with a faceplant at 180ish but hacking up a DD just to see howe fast it will go discourages doing something like this in a controlled environment.
