To say that I am pleased with this would be an understatement. Judging by the chatter on the Prod and GT forums, most of the drivers are pretty happy, too. Ray Irwin and the city of Topeka bent over backwards to accommodate us, but the sad truth is, HPT just wasn't a championship caliber track, and Kansas in October pretty well sucks. Wisconsin may get a little chilly in September, but the track is just so beautiful I don't care. Kinda wish we would have built the Miata as a hardtop instead of a roadster, though. Aero is going to matter a lot more at RA than it did at Mid-O or HPT.

We've been gone from Mid-O for a couple years now. NASA has their championships there now. At least we've still got the June National in a couple weeks. But you're right. HPT just doesn't feel like the Runoffs. I miss having the grass and trees, and the world class track. Elkart has all of those things, though. Of all the tracks that were under consideration, I think it's the best choice. IMS would have been cool, just because it's Indy and nobody would have a home track advantage, but the track itself isn't all that interesting, especially for the small-bore stuff like H-prod and Formula 500. I would have been happy with VIR or Atlanta, but I think they're too far east for the west coast guys.
