Ryan Blaney to drive for Wood Brothers in 2015

From jayski.com and other sources . . .

Ryan Blaney to drive for Wood Brothers in 2015 UPDATES: Ryan Blaney will drive the #21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford in 2015, sources have told Motorsport.com. Blaney, 20, will run a limited Sprint Cup schedule in the venerable #21 Ford along with Nationwide Series races for Team Penske as part of a technical alliance between Penske and the Wood Brothers. An announcement is expected around the race at Michigan International Speedway on Aug. 17. Blaney currently leads the Camping World Truck Series points driving the #29 Ford for Brad Keselowski Racing. In just his second full season on the tour, Blaney has two wins - the first coming in just his third career start. Blaney has a stellar average finish of 7.6. The third-generation racer has also shown tremendous progress on the Nationwide Series tour with Penske Racing. At 19, he won his first NNS race in his 13th career start last September at Kentucky Speedway. Blaney led 96 of 200 laps. In just seven starts in 2015, Blaney has posted six top 10s and three top-five finishes. His average qualifying position is 5.9. Blaney made his Cup debut at Kansas Speedway on May 10. He qualified 21st and finished 27th.(Motorsport)(8-1-2014)

UPDATE: Blaney does have one career Sprint Cup start, making his debut with Team Penske earlier this season at Kansas. "We're focused on winning the truck championship this year and focused on this weekend at Pocono," Blaney said. "Keep growing this (program). Those days will sort themselves out down the road." Team Penske Vice President Jonathan Gibson said via email Friday that the organization has plans for Blaney's future. "Ryan Blaney continues to do a great job with our organization and we have a plan for his progression within Team Penske," he said. "While we have had some discussions with our partners at Ford, nothing has been finalized."(NASCAR.com)(8-2-2014)

UPDATE 2: Wood Brothers Racing and Ford Racing will host a media teleconference featuring Eddie & Len Wood, co-owners, Wood Brothers Racing, and others to talk about their plans for the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup season as well as this weekend's Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway on Thursday at 2:00pm.et.(Ford Racing)(8-13-2014)
This is the part that jumped out at me . . interesting . . .
. . technical alliance between Penske and the Wood Brothers.

that's pretty cool for Blaney. hopefully they can move him to the 22 NNS car in '15 too. I will be rooting for him! it was pretty interesting that they are moving to a Penske alliance next season, you would think that should help performance.

as for Trevor, understand that he has gone through a lot health wise and I'm happy for him that he has a full time cup ride, he seems like a good guy. having said that I was expecting more in the way of performance after winning the 500 in '11. I just have a hard time believing that he will be competing for wins.

I am looking forward to good things coming out of the Penske-Wood brothers alliance. Blaney should be a threat to win next year.
