I hate to see crashes like the one they had in the race today. It was a good race until the last turn. I think blocking should be banned. Many good races have been ruined by a blocking maneuver. If a guy has the line to make a pass and win, he should be allowed to take the line and win. Hopefully, all the injured fans will recover from their injuries.

I'm somewhat dismayed that NASCAR still doesn't require teams to anchor the engine block and wheel hubs to the car's frame with ultra-high-strength cables the way Indycar and F1 do. Hell even the NHRA mandates kevlar armor to contain engine explosions.
We've seen fences tear cars apart before, I don't know if its feasible to make a fence that will give enough to prevent the car's destruction while remaining solid enough to contain the car, but I'd like to see NASCAR to try to find out.
From the looks of it, One tire and the engine block smashed through the gate in the fence and another tire went over the fence. The latter is yet more evidence the fences should go further over the track in grandstand areas.
